“바다 위 케이블카 타고 일상 밖으로”…해남 장애인·가족, 여수서 ‘공감과 치유’

“탁 트인 바다 위를 달리는 해상케이블카를 타니 마치 하늘을 나는 것 같았습니다.”

해남지역 장애인과 가족들이 반복되는 일상에서 잠시 벗어나 여수의 바다와 관광명소를 둘러보며 서로 소통하고 몸과 마음을 재충전하는 특별한 시간을 가졌다.

해남군장애인종합복지관(관장 김도영)은 지난 9월 1일부터 1박 2일 일정으로 장애인과 가족, 인솔자 등 30명이 참여한 가운데 여수 일대에서 ‘장애인 공감과 치유탐방 프로그램’​을 진행했다고 밝혔다.

이번 프로그램은 장애인과 가족들에게 평소 접하기 어려운 문화·관광 체험 기회를 제공하고, 역사문화와 자연탐방을 통해 가족 간 소통을 넓히는 동시에 일상에서 쌓인 스트레스를 해소할 수 있도록 마련됐다.

특히 장애로 인해 장거리 여행이나 다양한 문화여가 활동을 접하기 상대적으로 어려운 지역 장애인들에게 새로운 장소와 문화를 직접 경험할 수 있는 기회를 제공했다는 점에서 의미를 더했다.

참가자들은 1박 2일 동안 여수의 대표 관광자원을 둘러보며 다양한 체험활동에 참여했다.

여수 앞바다의 풍광을 한눈에 감상할 수 있는 유람선 승선을 시작으로 바다 위를 가로지르는 여수해상케이블카를 체험했으며, 아쿠아플라넷 여수를 찾아 다양한 해양생물을 관람하는 등 평소 쉽게 경험하기 어려웠던 문화여가 프로그램을 즐겼다.

특히 여수 바다를 내려다보며 이동하는 해상케이블카는 참가자들에게 큰 호응을 얻었다.

행사에 참여한 김문자 씨는 “탁 트인 바다 위를 달리는 해상케이블카를 탈 때는 마치 하늘을 나는 것 같아 정말 좋았다”며 “똑같은 일상에서 벗어나 새로운 곳을 찾고 호기심을 채울 수 있는 멋진 경험이었다”고 소감을 전했다.

이번 탐방은 단순한 관광을 넘어 장애인과 가족이 함께 여행하며 서로의 마음을 이해하고 새로운 추억을 만드는 ‘공감과 치유’의 시간으로 진행됐다.

특히 장애인들의 사회참여와 삶의 질 향상을 위해서는 복지서비스뿐 아니라 여행·문화·관광 등 다양한 여가활동에 참여할 수 있는 기회를 지속적으로 확대해야 한다는 점에서도 이번 프로그램의 의미가 크다.

‘장애인 공감과 치유탐방 프로그램’은 전남광주통합특별시와 해남군의 지원으로 운영되고 있다.

해남군장애인종합복지관은 앞으로도 지역 장애인들이 다양한 문화와 여가활동을 경험하고 가족들과 함께 소통할 수 있도록 관련 프로그램을 지속적으로 추진할 계획이다.

김도영 해남군장애인종합복지관장은 “장애인과 가족들이 일상에서 벗어나 재충전할 수 있도록 매년 공감과 치유탐방 프로그램을 지원해 주는 해남군 등에 깊이 감사드린다.”고 말했다.
이어 “이번 행사가 지역 장애인들의 문화여가 생활이 더욱 확대되는 계기가 되길 바란다.”며 “앞으로도 장애인과 가족들이 지역사회의 다양한 문화와 여가활동에 참여하고 행복한 일상을 만들어 갈 수 있도록 노력하겠다.”고 밝혔다.

“Riding the cable car over the wide-open sea made me feel as if I were flying through the sky.”
People with disabilities from Haenam and their families took a welcome break from their daily routines to explore Yeosu’s scenic coastline and major attractions, spending meaningful time together while relaxing and recharging both physically and emotionally.
The Haenam County Welfare Center for People with Disabilities, headed by Director Kim Do-young, said it held its “Empathy and Healing Exploration Program for People with Disabilities” in Yeosu for two days and one night beginning September 1. A total of 30 people, including individuals with disabilities, family members and accompanying staff, participated in the program.
The program was designed to provide people with disabilities and their families with opportunities to experience cultural and tourism activities that may otherwise be difficult to access. It also aimed to encourage communication among family members and help participants relieve the stress of everyday life through cultural, historical and nature-based experiences.
The trip was particularly meaningful because it gave local residents with disabilities, who may face greater barriers to long-distance travel and diverse cultural and leisure activities, an opportunity to visit new places and enjoy new experiences firsthand.
During the two-day trip, participants visited some of Yeosu’s best-known attractions and took part in a variety of activities.
They enjoyed a cruise offering panoramic views of the Yeosu coastline, rode the Yeosu Maritime Cable Car across the sea and visited Aqua Planet Yeosu, where they observed a wide range of marine life.
The maritime cable car, which offers sweeping views of the sea below, was especially popular among participants.
Kim Moon-ja, one of the participants, said, “Riding the cable car over the wide-open sea made me feel as if I were flying through the sky. It was wonderful to break away from the same daily routine, visit somewhere new and satisfy my curiosity. It was a truly memorable experience.”
The trip went beyond simple sightseeing. It provided a meaningful opportunity for people with disabilities and their families to travel together, better understand one another and create new memories through shared experiences of “empathy and healing.”
The program also highlighted the importance of expanding opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in travel, cultural activities and tourism, in addition to providing traditional welfare services, as part of broader efforts to promote social participation and improve quality of life.
The “Empathy and Healing Exploration Program for People with Disabilities” is operated with support from the Jeonnam-Gwangju Special Metropolitan City and Haenam County.
The Haenam County Welfare Center for People with Disabilities plans to continue providing programs that enable local residents with disabilities to experience a wider range of cultural and leisure activities and spend meaningful time with their families.
Director Kim Do-young said, “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Haenam County and other organizations for their continued support of the Empathy and Healing Exploration Program each year, giving people with disabilities and their families an opportunity to step away from their daily routines and recharge.”
He added, “I hope this program will serve as an opportunity to further expand cultural and leisure activities for people with disabilities in our community. We will continue working to ensure that people with disabilities and their families can participate in a diverse range of cultural and leisure activities and enjoy happier, more fulfilling lives.”
