완도소방서(서장 이민석)가 실전과 같은 훈련으로 현장 대응력을 끌어올렸다.

완도소방서는 지난 25일부터 26일까지 이틀간 2026년 상반기 현장 소방공무원 113명을 대상으로 소방전술훈련 평가를 실시했다고 밝혔다.
이번 평가는 재난 현장 대응능력 향상과 직무 분야별 전문성 강화를 위해 매년 상·하반기 두 차례 정례적으로 실시되는 평가로, 이론과 실기를 병행해 진행됐다.

이론평가는 화재진압·구급·구조 분야별 자체 평가시험으로 치러졌으며, 실기평가 주요 항목은 공기호흡기 착용 및 비상호흡법, 로프매듭법(동력절단기 등 기구 묶기 포함), 요구조자 운반법 등 현장 즉응 능력을 점검하는 내용으로 구성됐다.

특히 완도소방서는 6개 섬지역대를 운영하는 지역 특성을 반영해 도서지역 재난 환경을 고려한 맞춤형 평가를 실시했다.
해상 기상 여건과 접근성 제약 등 복합 변수 속에서도 신속하고 정확한 대응이 가능하도록 각 지역대 대원들의 실전 역량을 집중 점검했다는 설명이다.

올해부터는 농연발생기(안개머신)를 도입해 실제 화재 현장과 유사한 농연(濃煙) 환경을 조성했다.
시야 확보가 어려운 상황에서 팀 단위 수색과 구조 대상자 탐색·이동 절차를 평가함으로써, 연기 속에서도 침착하게 임무를 수행할 수 있는 현장 적응력을 높이는 데 중점을 뒀다.

연기 속에서의 방향 감각 유지, 동료 간 의사소통, 구조 대상자 확인과 신속한 이송까지 전 과정을 실전과 동일한 조건에서 반복 숙달함으로써 대응 속도와 정확성을 동시에 끌어올렸다는 평가다.

이민석 서장은 “실전과 같은 환경에서 반복 숙달 훈련을 통해 대원들의 대응 능력을 한층 강화하는 계기가 됐다”며 “앞으로도 체계적인 교육·훈련을 통해 군민이 안심할 수 있는 안전 환경 조성에 최선을 다하겠다.”고 말했다.

완도소방서는 앞으로도 도서지역 특수성을 반영한 현장 중심 훈련을 지속 강화해, 재난 발생 시 ‘골든타임’을 지켜내는 대응 체계를 확립해 나갈 방침이다.

Wando Fire Station (Chief Lee Min-seok) has strengthened its on-site response capabilities through training conducted under realistic disaster conditions.
The station announced that it carried out the first-half 2026 tactical training evaluation for 113 frontline firefighters over two days, from the 25th to the 26th.
This evaluation is held twice a year, in the first and second halves, as a regular assessment aimed at enhancing disaster response capabilities and strengthening professional expertise in each field of duty. The program combined both written and practical tests.
The written evaluation covered in-house examinations in fire suppression, emergency medical services, and rescue operations. Major practical assessment items included breathing apparatus donning and emergency breathing techniques, rope knotting methods (including securing equipment such as power cutters), and victim transport techniques, all designed to assess immediate on-site response capabilities.
In particular, Wando Fire Station conducted a customized evaluation reflecting its regional characteristics, as it operates six island-based fire units. The assessment focused on strengthening practical response capabilities under complex variables such as maritime weather conditions and limited accessibility in island areas.
Starting this year, a smoke generator (fog machine) was introduced to create dense smoke conditions similar to an actual fire scene. The evaluation placed special emphasis on team-based search and rescue procedures in low-visibility environments, aiming to enhance firefighters’ adaptability and composure in real smoke-filled situations.
From maintaining directional awareness in heavy smoke to communication among team members and the confirmation and rapid evacuation of victims, the entire process was repeatedly trained under conditions identical to real-life scenarios. Officials explained that this approach improved both response speed and operational accuracy.
Chief Lee Min-seok stated, “Training repeatedly under realistic conditions has served as an opportunity to further strengthen our firefighters’ response capabilities,” adding, “We will continue to provide systematic education and training to create a safe environment where residents can feel secure.”
Wando Fire Station plans to further reinforce field-centered training that reflects the unique characteristics of island regions, establishing a response system capable of securing the golden time in the event of a disaster.
