설 연휴, 완도의 난대숲이 활짝 열린다.
완도수목원은 설을 맞아 고향을 찾는 귀성객과 관광객들이 편안하게 자연을 즐길 수 있도록 15일부터 18일까지 일부 구역을 무료 개방한다고 밝혔다.

이번 무료 개방은 성묘와 관광을 겸해 완도를 찾는 방문객들에게 자연 속 휴식 공간을 제공하고, 국내 최대 규모 난대림 수목원의 가치를 널리 알리기 위해 마련됐다.
개방 시설은 산림박물관을 제외한 31개 전문소원과 아열대온실, 탐방로, 등산로 등 주요 실내·외 관람 구역이다.

전문소원은 식물을 형태·분류학적 특징과 종별로 수집·전시·보전하는 공간으로, 완도수목원의 대표 관람 코스로 꼽힌다.

완도수목원은 총 2천33ha에 달하는 국내 최대 난대림 수목원으로, 동백나무와 붉가시나무를 비롯해 814종의 자생식물이 분포하고 있다.
겨울철에도 사계절 푸른 상록림이 장관을 이루며, 숲과 바다가 어우러진 천혜의 자연경관은 완도의 또 다른 자산으로 평가받는다.

안병석 완도수목원장은 “설 연휴 고향을 찾은 귀성객과 관광객들이 가족과 함께 완도수목원에서 여유로운 시간을 보내며 힐링하길 바란다.”며 “안전수칙을 지켜 더욱 뜻깊고 즐거운 명절 나들이가 되길 기대한다.”고 말했다.

설 연휴, 바쁜 일상을 잠시 내려놓고 자연의 품에서 쉼을 찾고 싶다면 완도수목원이 그 답이 될 전망이다.

During the Lunar New Year holiday, Wando’s lush evergreen forest will open wide to visitors.
완도수목원 (Wando Arboretum) announced that it will offer free admission to selected areas from the 15th to the 18th, allowing homecoming families and tourists to comfortably enjoy nature during the holiday period.
The free opening is designed to provide a relaxing natural retreat for visitors combining ancestral rites with travel, while also promoting the value of Korea’s largest warm-temperate forest arboretum.
Open facilities will include 31 themed exhibition gardens—excluding the Forest Museum—as well as the subtropical greenhouse, walking trails, and hiking paths.
The themed gardens are spaces where plant species are collected, exhibited, and preserved according to morphological and taxonomic characteristics, and are considered one of the arboretum’s signature attractions.
Spanning 2,033 hectares, Wando Arboretum is the largest warm-temperate forest arboretum in Korea. It is home to 814 species of native plants, including camellia and evergreen oak trees. Even in winter, its evergreen forest creates a spectacular landscape, where lush greenery harmonizes with the surrounding sea—an exceptional natural asset of Wando.
An Byeong-seok, Director of Wando Arboretum, said, “We hope that homecoming visitors and tourists spending the Lunar New Year in their hometown can enjoy a relaxing and healing time with their families at Wando Arboretum.” He added, “If everyone follows safety guidelines, it will become an even more meaningful and pleasant holiday outing.”
