전남·광주 지역 사회연대경제 주체들이 하나로 결집하며 통합특별시 경선 판도에 의미 있는 흐름을 형성하고 있다.

사회적기업, 협동조합, 마을기업 등 사회연대경제 분야 종사자 300명이 더불어민주당 전남·광주 통합특별시장 경선 후보인 민형배 국회의원(광주 광산구을)에 대한 공식 지지를 선언했다.

민형배 경선사무소 ‘민심캠프’에 따르면, 전남광주사회연대경제포럼을 비롯한 지역 사회연대경제인들은 지난 9일 경선사무소를 방문해 지지선언식을 열고, 통합특별시의 지속 가능한 지역경제 생태계를 구축할 적임자로 민형배 후보를 공식 지지했다.
이날 행사에는 전남과 광주 전역에서 활동 중인 사회적경제 활동가와 경영인들이 대거 참여해 현장 열기를 더했다.

이들은 선언문을 통해 “전남·광주 통합특별시는 수도권 집중과 지역 소멸 위기에 대응하기 위한 시대적 선택”이라며 “단순한 행정 통합을 넘어 사람과 공동체, 지역경제가 함께 살아나는 새로운 발전 모델이 절실하다”고 강조했다.

특히 지지 배경으로 ‘사람 중심 경제 비전’을 핵심 이유로 꼽았다.
이들은 “민 후보가 제시해 온 기본사회 실현과 시민 참여형 지역경제 질서 구축 방향은 사회연대경제가 추구해 온 가치와 깊이 맞닿아 있다”며 “지역 내 생산·소비·돌봄·일자리가 선순환하는 협력적 경제 생태계를 실현할 수 있는 실질적 대안을 갖춘 후보”라고 평가했다.

이어 “사회연대경제가 통합특별시의 핵심 정책 축으로 자리 잡아 지역 주민의 삶의 질을 높이는 실질적 해법이 되도록 민 후보와 함께 힘을 모아 나가겠다.”고 밝혔다.
민형배 후보는 “사회연대경제는 지역 공동체를 지탱하는 든든한 뿌리이자 미래 경제의 핵심 축”이라며 “공공서비스의 중요한 파트너로서 사회연대경제가 더 큰 역할을 할 수 있도록 정책적 지원과 제도적 기반을 확실히 구축하겠다.”고 강조했다.

이번 지지 선언은 농업계, 시민사회에 이어 사회연대경제 분야까지 지지 기반이 확장되고 있다는 점에서, 전남·광주 통합특별시 경선 구도에 적지 않은 영향을 미칠 것으로 전망된다.

Social and solidarity economy actors across the Jeonnam–Gwangju region are coming together, creating a meaningful shift in the dynamics of the integrated metropolitan city primary race.
A total of 300 workers and leaders from the social and solidarity economy sector—including social enterprises, cooperatives, and village enterprises—have officially declared their support for Min Hyung-bae, a member of the National Assembly (Gwangju Gwangsan-eul) and a candidate in the Democratic Party’s primary for the Jeonnam–Gwangju integrated metropolitan mayor.
According to Min’s campaign office, “Minsim Camp,” members of the Jeonnam–Gwangju Social and Solidarity Economy Forum and other regional actors visited the campaign office on the 9th to hold a declaration of support. They formally endorsed Min as the most suitable candidate to build a sustainable regional economic ecosystem for the integrated metropolitan city.
The event drew a large number of activists and managers engaged in the social economy across Jeonnam and Gwangju, adding to the strong atmosphere on site.
In their statement, the participants emphasized that “the Jeonnam–Gwangju integrated metropolitan city is a timely choice to respond to excessive concentration in the capital region and the crisis of regional extinction,” adding that “beyond simple administrative integration, a new development model is urgently needed—one in which people, communities, and the local economy thrive together.”
They identified Min’s “people-centered economic vision” as the key reason for their support.
They stated, “Candidate Min’s vision of realizing a basic society and establishing a citizen-participatory regional economic order aligns deeply with the values pursued by the social and solidarity economy,” and praised him as “a candidate with practical solutions capable of creating a cooperative economic ecosystem in which production, consumption, care, and jobs circulate virtuous within the region.”
They further expressed their commitment, saying, “We will join forces with Candidate Min to ensure that the social and solidarity economy becomes a key policy pillar of the integrated metropolitan city and serves as a practical solution to improving the quality of life for local residents.”
Min Hyung-bae stated, “The social and solidarity economy is a strong foundation that sustains local communities and a core pillar of the future economy,” adding, “We will firmly establish policy support and institutional frameworks so that it can play a greater role as a key partner in public services.”
This declaration of support is expected to have a notable impact on the primary race for the Jeonnam–Gwangju integrated metropolitan city, as it signals an expansion of Min’s support base beyond the agricultural sector and civil society into the social and solidarity economy sector.
