“예인 중 600톤급 부선에 물이 찼다”…완도해경, 신지도 해상 긴급 구조

전남광주 완도군 신지도 인근 해상에서 예인 중이던 600톤급 부선에 바닷물이 들어오는 사고가 발생해 완도해경이 긴급 구조에 나섰다.

완도해양경찰서(서장 김태환)는 22일 오전 6시58분께 완도군 신지도 남동방 인근 해상에서 예인 중이던 부선 A호가 침수되고 있다는 신고를 접수하고 경비함정과 구조대를 현장에 급파했다고 밝혔다.

A호는 600톤급 부선으로 당시 승선원 1명이 타고 있었다.
해경에 따르면 A호는 지난 20일 오전 경남 진해에서 충청도 방향으로 이동하던 중 원인을 알 수 없는 침수가 발생했다.

선박 측은 자체적으로 배수작업을 벌이며 운항을 이어갔으나 배수장비 일부가 고장 나면서 더 이상 자체 대응이 어렵다고 판단해 완도해경에 구조를 요청한 것으로 파악됐다.

신고를 받은 완도해경은 경비함정과 구조대를 현장으로 긴급 출동시키고 가장 먼저 승선원 1명의 안전 상태를 확인했다.

이어 만일의 상황에 대비해 승선원에게 구명조끼 착용을 지시하고 추가 배수장비를 투입해 선내로 유입된 물을 빼내는 작업에 들어갔다.

해경과 선박 측의 배수작업으로 선내 수위가 낮아지면서 급박한 침수 위험은 줄어든 것으로 전해졌다.

완도해경은 이후 민간 예인선을 이용해 A호를 완도항으로 이동시켜 안전하게 계류했다.

완도항에 도착한 뒤에도 추가 배수장비를 가동해 선내 배수작업을 이어가고 있다.

이번 사고로 다행히 승선원 인명피해는 발생하지 않았으며 기름 유출 등 해양오염 피해도 없는 것으로 확인됐다.

다만 침수가 발생한 정확한 원인은 아직 확인되지 않았다.
완도해경은 A호의 선체와 배수 상태를 지속적으로 확인하는 한편 추가 침수와 해양오염 등 2차 사고 가능성에 대비해 안전관리를 이어갈 방침이다.

The Wando Coast Guard launched an emergency response after a 600-ton barge being towed off Sinjido Island in Wando County, Jeonnam-Gwangju, began taking on seawater.
The Wando Coast Guard Station, headed by Commissioner Kim Tae-hwan, said it received a report at approximately 6:58 a.m. on Sept. 22 that Barge A was flooding while being towed in waters southeast of Sinjido Island. A patrol vessel and rescue team were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Barge A is a 600-ton-class vessel and had one crew member on board at the time of the incident.
According to the Coast Guard, the barge had departed Jinhae, South Gyeongsang Province, on the morning of Sept. 20 and was being transported toward the Chungcheong region when flooding of an unknown cause occurred.
The crew initially attempted to control the flooding using onboard pumping equipment. However, after part of the equipment malfunctioned, the vessel was no longer able to adequately manage the situation and requested assistance from the Wando Coast Guard.
Upon arriving at the scene, Coast Guard personnel first confirmed that the sole crew member was safe.
As a precaution, the crew member was instructed to wear a life jacket, while additional pumping equipment was deployed to remove seawater from inside the vessel.
The combined pumping operation by the Coast Guard and the vessel’s crew lowered the water level inside the barge, reducing the immediate risk posed by the flooding.
The Wando Coast Guard subsequently arranged for a civilian tugboat to tow Barge A to Wando Port, where it was safely moored.
Additional pumping equipment continued to operate after the barge arrived at the port to remove the remaining water from the vessel.
No casualties were reported in the incident, and no oil spill or other marine pollution was detected.
The exact cause of the flooding has yet to be determined.
The Wando Coast Guard said it will continue monitoring the condition of the barge and its water levels while maintaining safety measures to prevent further flooding, marine pollution, or other secondary incidents.
