“73주년의 의미, 73가구에 나눔으로”…완도해경, 사랑의 쌀 730kg 전달

완도해양경찰서가 제73주년 ‘해양경찰의 날’을 맞아 직원들이 자발적으로 모은 성금으로 지역의 어려운 이웃 73가구에 사랑의 쌀 730kg을 전달한다.

완도해양경찰서(서장 김태환)는 오는 10일 제73주년 해양경찰의 날을 맞아 독거노인 등 지역사회 이웃 73가구에 가구당 10kg씩 모두 730kg의 완도 쌀을 전달하는 나눔 행사를 진행한다고 9일 밝혔다.

이번 행사는 올해 7월 출범한 완도해경 직장협의회가 주관한다. 국민에게 받은 관심과 사랑을 지역사회에 돌려주고 도움이 필요한 이웃들과 해양경찰의 날의 의미를 함께 나누자는 취지에서 마련됐다.

특히 이번에 전달되는 쌀은 직원들이 자발적으로 모은 성금으로 마련해 의미를 더했다.

완도해경 직장협의회는 직원들의 근무환경 개선과 고충 해소 등을 위해 운영되는 협의기구로, 조직 내 건전한 소통문화 조성과 정책 제언을 비롯한 다양한 활동을 추진하고 있다.

완도해경은 이번 나눔에 앞서 지난 8월 한 달 동안 ‘나눔으로 완성하는 칭찬릴레이 73’ 캠페인도 진행했다.

직원들이 업무 현장에서 함께 근무하는 동료를 서로 칭찬하고 격려하며 긍정적인 조직문화를 만들어 온 것으로, 완도해경은 직원들 사이에서 시작된 ‘칭찬과 나눔’의 의미를 이번에는 지역사회로 확대했다.

이에 따라 제73주년 해양경찰의 날의 숫자인 ‘73’에 의미를 담아 지역의 73가구를 선정하고, 가구당 10kg씩 총 730kg의 쌀을 전달한다.

완도해경은 비록 작은 나눔이지만 지역사회 구성원들의 일상에 실질적인 보탬이 될 수 있도록 도움이 필요한 이웃들에게 정성을 전달한다는 계획이다.

김정호 완도해경 직장협의회장은 “서로를 격려하는 마음에서 시작된 작은 실천이 지역 이웃을 위한 나눔으로 이어지게 됐다”며 “완도해경 직원들의 따뜻한 마음도 지역 주민들에게 잘 전달되길 바란다.”고 말했다.

김태환 완도해양경찰서장은 “제73주년 해양경찰의 날을 맞아 그동안 국민께서 보내주신 관심과 성원에 감사드린다”며 “직원들이 자발적으로 뜻을 모아 지역사회와 나눔을 실천할 수 있어 더욱 의미가 깊다.”고 밝혔다.

한편 해양경찰의 날은 해양주권 수호와 해양안전의 중요성을 알리고 해양경찰의 역할과 사명을 되새기기 위해 매년 9월 10일 기념하고 있다.

The Wando Coast Guard will donate 730 kg of rice to 73 local households in need to mark the 73rd Coast Guard Day, using funds voluntarily contributed by its employees.
The Wando Coast Guard Station, headed by Chief Kim Tae-hwan, announced on September 9 that it will hold a community-sharing event on September 10 to commemorate the 73rd Coast Guard Day. A total of 73 households, including elderly people living alone, will each receive 10 kg of locally produced Wando rice, amounting to 730 kg in total.
The event is organized by the Wando Coast Guard Employees’ Council, which was launched in July this year. It was arranged to give back to the local community the interest, trust and support the Coast Guard has received from the public and to share the meaning of Coast Guard Day with neighbors in need.
Adding special significance to the initiative, the rice was purchased entirely with voluntary donations from Wando Coast Guard employees.
The Wando Coast Guard Employees’ Council is an employee representative body established to improve working conditions and address workplace concerns. It also promotes various activities aimed at fostering healthy communication within the organization and providing policy recommendations.
Ahead of the donation event, the Wando Coast Guard conducted its “Compliment Relay 73: Sharing Completes the Relay” campaign throughout August.
Through the campaign, employees encouraged and praised one another in the workplace, helping to foster a positive organizational culture. The Wando Coast Guard is now extending that spirit of encouragement and sharing beyond its own organization and into the local community.
Reflecting the significance of the number “73” in the 73rd anniversary of Coast Guard Day, the Wando Coast Guard selected 73 local households to receive 10 kg of rice each, for a total donation of 730 kg.
Although modest in scale, the Wando Coast Guard hopes the initiative will provide meaningful support in the daily lives of local residents and deliver a message of care to those who need it most.
Kim Jeong-ho, chairman of the Wando Coast Guard Employees’ Council, said, “A small act that began with the spirit of encouraging one another has grown into an opportunity to share with our neighbors. We hope the warmth and goodwill of Wando Coast Guard employees will be sincerely conveyed to residents in our community.”
Kim Tae-hwan, Chief of the Wando Coast Guard Station, said, “As we mark the 73rd Coast Guard Day, I would like to express my gratitude for the interest and support the public has shown us over the years. It is especially meaningful that our employees have voluntarily come together to share that support with the local community.”
Coast Guard Day is observed annually on September 10 to highlight the importance of safeguarding maritime sovereignty and ensuring safety at sea, while also reaffirming the mission and responsibilities of the Korea Coast Guard.
