전라남도가 ‘지역 인재의 세계화’라는 강력한 승부수를 던졌다.
단순한 장학사업을 넘어, 글로벌 핵심 인재를 직접 양성해 지역 산업 경쟁력을 끌어올리겠다는 전략적 인재 투자 프로젝트다.
전라남도와 전남인재평생교육진흥원은 세계 명문대 유학을 지원하는 ‘제7기 전라남도 해외유학생’을 오는 28일까지 모집한다고 밝혔다.
이번 사업은 해외 명문대 박사 및 석·박사 통합과정 진학을 지원해, AI·에너지·첨단산업 등 전남의 미래 전략산업을 이끌 고급 인재를 체계적으로 육성하는 데 목적이 있다.

■ “지역이 직접 키우는 글로벌 인재”… 단순 유학 아닌 ‘산업 전략’
이번 해외유학생 지원사업은 기존 장학제도와는 차원이 다르다.
단순한 학비 지원을 넘어, 지역 산업과 직결된 ‘전략형 인재 양성 시스템’이라는 점에서 주목된다.

모집 대상은 공고일 기준 본인 또는 부모가 2년 이상 전남에 주소를 두고 있으면서, 전남 지역 대학(원)을 졸업했거나 졸업 예정인 사람이다.
지원자는 반드시 전남 전략산업 관련 이공계열 전공자, 일정 수준 이상의 학업 성적, 공인 외국어 능력을 갖춰야 한다.

선발은 서류심사 → 역량평가 → 면접, 3단계 절차로 진행된다.

Jeollanam-do, in partnership with the Jeonnam Talent Lifelong Education Promotion Institute, announced that it will recruit applicants for the 7th cohort of Jeonnam Overseas Students Program until the 28th.
The program is designed to support admission to prestigious global universities for PhD and integrated master’s–PhD programs, with the goal of systematically nurturing high-level talent to lead Jeonnam’s future strategic industries, including AI, energy, and advanced technologies.

Either the applicant or their parents must have maintained residency in Jeonnam for at least two years as of the announcement date
Must have graduated from or be expected to graduate from a university (or graduate school) in Jeonnam
Additionally, applicants must:
Major in science and engineering fields related to Jeonnam’s strategic industries
Meet academic performance standards
Possess certified foreign language proficiency
