진도경찰서가 설 명절을 앞두고 범죄 사전 차단에 나섰다. 금값 상승과 귀향객 증가로 범죄 발생 우려가 커지는 시기를 맞아, 지역 유관기관과 손잡고 가시적 순찰을 대폭 강화하며 ‘선제적 예방 치안’에 총력을 기울였다.

진도경찰서(서장 황동석)는 2월 9일부터 18일까지 10일간 ‘설 명절 특별치안대책’을 수립·추진하고, 관내 자율방범대와 합동으로 집중 순찰 활동을 전개했다고 밝혔다.

이번 특별치안활동은 최근 금값 상승에 따른 금은방 대상 강·절도 범죄 우려와, 명절 전후 현금·귀금속 거래 증가에 따른 범죄 가능성을 사전에 차단하기 위한 조치다.

순찰은 금융기관과 금은방 밀집 지역, 버스터미널 등 귀향객과 관광객이 몰리는 다중이용시설을 중심으로 이뤄졌다.
특히 방범 취약 시간대인 야간에 순찰 인력을 집중 배치해 범죄 취약요소를 면밀히 점검하고, 잠재적 범죄 분위기를 사전에 억제하는 데 주력했다.

경찰과 자율방범대는 합동 순찰을 통해 업주 대상 범죄예방 요령을 안내하고, CCTV 작동 상태와 방범시설을 점검하는 한편, 순찰차와 도보 순찰을 병행하는 ‘가시적 치안 활동’으로 체감 안전도를 높였다.

진도경찰서 관계자는 “설 명절 기간 동안 군민과 귀향객이 평온하고 따뜻한 명절을 보낼 수 있도록 순찰 활동을 강화하고 있다.”며 “민·경 협력치안을 통해 범죄 예방 체계를 더욱 공고히 하겠다.”고 밝혔다.
이어 “범죄 의심 상황이나 불편 사항이 있을 경우 즉시 112로 신고해 달라”고 당부했다.

한편 경찰은 특별치안활동 기간 이후에도 지역 자율방범대와의 합동 순찰을 지속해 지역 치안 안전망을 강화하고, 생활 주변 범죄 예방 활동을 상시화 할 방침이다.

Jindo Police Launch 10-Day Special Security Operation with Partner Agencies
Jindo Police Station has stepped up efforts to prevent crime ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday. Amid concerns over a potential rise in offenses due to soaring gold prices and increased holiday travel, the police have reinforced visible patrol activities in cooperation with local partner organizations, focusing on proactive crime prevention.
Jindo Police Station (Chief Hwang Dong-seok) announced that it implemented a 10-day “Lunar New Year Special Security Plan” from February 9 to 18, carrying out intensive joint patrols with local volunteer crime prevention groups.
The special operation was designed to deter potential robberies and thefts targeting jewelry stores amid rising gold prices, as well as to prevent crimes linked to increased cash and precious metal transactions during the holiday period.
Patrols focused on financial institutions, jewelry shop clusters, bus terminals, and other multi-use facilities with high concentrations of returning residents and visitors. In particular, police deployed additional personnel during nighttime hours—considered more vulnerable to crime—to closely inspect risk factors and preemptively suppress potential criminal activity.
Through joint patrols, officers and volunteer patrol members provided crime prevention guidance to business owners, checked the operational status of CCTV systems and security facilities, and enhanced public safety perception by conducting both vehicle and foot patrols as part of visible policing efforts.
A representative of Jindo Police Station stated, “We are strengthening patrol activities to ensure that residents and visitors can enjoy a safe and peaceful holiday season. Through close police-community cooperation, we will further solidify our crime prevention framework.” The official also urged citizens to immediately dial 112 in case of suspicious activity or any inconvenience.
Meanwhile, the police plan to continue joint patrols with local volunteer groups even after the special operation period, reinforcing the regional safety network and institutionalizing routine crime prevention activities.
