완도소방서(서장 이민석)는 민족 대명절 추석을 앞두고 완도군민을 대상으로 추석 연휴 안전수칙과 주택용 소방시설 선물하기 홍보 캠페인을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

전남소방본부 통계에 따르면, 최근 5년간(2020~2024년) 추석 연휴 기간 전남에서는 총 1,505건의 화재가 발생했으며, 이로 인해 120명의 인명피해(사망 10명, 부상 110명)가 발생했다.

연휴 기간 하루 평균 화재 발생 건수는 60.2건에 달했으며, 재산피해 규모도 약 74억 원으로 집계돼 추석 연휴가 평소보다 화재와 안전사고 위험이 높아지는 시기임을 보여주고 있다.

완도소방서는 이러한 특성을 고려해 추석 연휴 안전수칙 준수와 주택용 소방시설 선물하기를 통해 군민들이 보다 안전한 명절을 보낼 수 있도록 집중 홍보에 나섰다.

이번 캠페인은 귀성객과 군민들의 안전의식을 높이고, 명절 기간 화재 및 각종 사고를 예방하기 위해 마련됐으며, 특히 가정의 안전을 지킬 수 있는 주택용 소방시설 선물 문화를 확산하는 데에도 주력하고 있다.

주요 홍보 내용은 전기안전(사용하지 않는 전자제품 플러그 뽑기, 전선 과열 방지), 가스안전(휴가 전 가스 밸브 잠그기, 노후 가스호스 교체), 소방안전(주택용 소방시설 설치, 차량용 소화기 비치), 집 비우기 전 행동요령(방화문 닫기, 쓰레기 및 발화 위험물 정리), 주택용 소방시설 선물하기 등이다.

이민석 서장은 “추석 연휴는 가족 단위 이동과 장시간 부재로 화재 위험이 높아지는 시기”라며, “군민 여러분께서 작은 관심과 실천으로 전기·가스·소방 안전을 지키고, 집을 비우기 전 점검을 생활화해 안전하고 따뜻한 명절을 보내시길 바란다.”고 강조했다.

Wando Fire Station Conducts Safety Campaign and Promotes Home Fire Safety Equipment Gifts Ahead of Chuseok Holiday
Wando Fire Station (Chief Lee Min-seok) announced that it has carried out a campaign to raise awareness of safety rules and promote gifting of home fire safety equipment to Wando residents ahead of the traditional Chuseok holiday.
According to statistics from the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters, a total of 1,505 fires occurred in Jeonnam during Chuseok holidays over the past five years (2020–2024), resulting in 120 casualties (10 deaths and 110 injuries).
The average number of fires per day during the holiday period reached 60.2, and the total property damage was estimated at approximately 7.4 billion KRW, indicating that the Chuseok holiday is a period with significantly higher risks of fires and safety accidents compared to normal days.
Considering these characteristics, Wando Fire Station has focused on promoting compliance with safety rules during the Chuseok holiday and the gifting of home fire safety equipment to help residents have a safer holiday.
The campaign aims to enhance the safety awareness of returning residents and local citizens and to prevent fires and other accidents during the holiday. It also emphasizes the importance of spreading a culture of gifting home fire safety equipment to protect family safety.
Key safety messages include:
Electrical Safety: Unplug unused electronic devices, prevent overheating of wires.
Gas Safety: Turn off gas valves before leaving, replace old gas hoses.
Fire Safety: Install home fire safety equipment, keep a fire extinguisher in vehicles.
Precautions Before Leaving Home: Close fire doors, remove trash and flammable materials.
Gifting Home Fire Safety Equipment: Encourage family safety through gifts.
Chief Lee Min-seok stated, “Chuseok is a period when family movements and long absences increase the risk of fires. We urge residents to protect electrical, gas, and fire safety through small but meaningful actions and to make checking their homes before leaving a routine, ensuring a safe and warm holiday season.”
