“완도 앞바다, 마약은 절대 못 들어온다!”

완도해양경찰서(서장 김길규)는 최근 제주·포항 등 전국 해안가에서 마약류(케타민)가 포장 형태로 잇따라 발견되며 지역 사회 불안이 높아짐에 따라, 지난 19일 관계기관과 함께 ‘해안가 마약류 대응 합동 대책회의’를 긴급 소집해 강력 대응에 돌입했다고 20일 밝혔다.

이번 회의에는 완도해양경찰서를 비롯해 완도군, 해남경찰서, 목포세관, 육군 해안감시대(TOD) 등 11개 기관이 참석해

특히 해수유동관측시스템을 활용해 마약류 표류가 의심되는 고위험 해안구역을 선별, 해당 지역에 대한 합동 수색과 경계태세를 기존보다 대폭 강화하기로 결정했다.

완도 관내 전 해안선에 대한 ‘해안가 전면 집중 감시체제’ 또한 즉시 가동된다.

완도해경 관계자는 “최근 다른 지역에서 ‘차(茶) 포장지’로 위장한 케타민이 발견되는 범죄 수법이 반복되고 있다”며 “완도 해역에서 단 한 건의 마약도 유입되지 않도록 모든 기관과 협력해 초동 차단·강력 제재 체계를 유지하겠다.”고 강조했다.

이어 “해안가에서 출처를 알 수 없는 의심 물품을 발견할 경우 절대 열어보지 말고 즉시 완도해양경찰서로 신고해 달라.”며 “주민 신고가 곧 지역 안전을 지키는 가장 강력한 방패”라고 당부했다.

Wando Coast Guard Launches ‘High-Intensity Joint Response System’ with 11 Agencies to Block Coastal Drug Inflow
The Wando Coast Guard (Chief Kim Gil-gyu) announced on the 20th that, in response to rising public concern following recent discoveries of packaged narcotics (ketamine) along coastal areas in Jeju, Pohang, and other regions nationwide, the agency convened an emergency “Coastal Narcotics Response Joint Countermeasure Meeting” on the 19th with related organizations to initiate a strong, coordinated response.
The meeting brought together 11 agencies, including the Wando Coast Guard, Wando County, Haenam Police Station, Mokpo Customs, and the Army’s coastal surveillance unit (TOD), to discuss:
▲ Sharing the latest information on coastal narcotics discoveries
▲ Restructuring immediate blockade and reporting protocols
▲ Enhancing community-based reporting and monitoring efforts
In particular, the agencies agreed to utilize the Ocean Current Observation System to identify high-risk shoreline zones where narcotics may drift, and to significantly strengthen joint searches and surveillance in those areas.
An “Full-Scale Coastal Monitoring System” covering the entire shoreline of Wando will also be activated immediately.
A Wando Coast Guard official stated, “Other regions have recently seen cases of ketamine disguised in tea packaging, and this criminal method continues to appear,” adding, “We will maintain a strong initial-response and enforcement posture in close cooperation with all agencies to prevent even a single gram of narcotics from entering Wando waters.”
The official further urged, “If you find any suspicious item along the coast, do not open it under any circumstances. Please report it immediately to the Wando Coast Guard,” emphasizing that “citizen reports are the strongest shield for protecting community safety.”
