완도해양경찰서(서장 김길규)는 10월 7일 새벽, 완도항 인근 해상에서 술에 취해 바다로 뛰어든 여성과 이를 구하려고 함께 들어간 일행 등 2명을 신속히 구조했다고 8일 밝혔다.

완도해경에 따르면, 이날 오전 3시 20분경 완도항 인근에서 산책 중이던 A씨는 술에 취한 여성 B씨(25)가 바다로 뛰어드는 모습을 목격했다.

이에 일행 C씨(31)가 B씨를 구하기 위해 함께 바다로 들어갔으며, 이를 본 A씨가 즉시 해경에 신고했다.

신고를 접수한 완도해경은 완도파출소 연안구조정과 완도구조대를 현장에 급파했다.

구조대는 신고 6분 만에 현장에 도착, 구조요원이 직접 입수해 B씨와 C씨를 모두 안전하게 구조했다.

두 사람은 구조 후 건강 상태에 이상이 없어 귀가 조치됐다.

완도해경 관계자는 “신속한 신고와 신속한 대응으로 인명 피해를 막을 수 있었다.”며 “특히 야간 시간대나 음주 후 해상 접근은 매우 위험하므로 각별한 주의가 필요하다.”고 당부했다.

Wando Coast Guard Swiftly Rescues Two People Who Entered the Sea While Intoxicated
– Early morning incident near Wando Port: Two individuals who entered the sea after drinking rescued within six minutes of report –
The Wando Coast Guard (Chief Kim Gil-gyu) announced on October 8 that it had swiftly rescued two people — a woman who jumped into the sea while intoxicated and her companion who attempted to save her — in the waters near Wando Port early in the morning of October 7.
According to the Coast Guard, at around 3:20 a.m., a passerby, identified as A, witnessed a woman, B (25), who appeared to be intoxicated, jump into the sea near Wando Port.
Her companion, C (31), immediately entered the water in an attempt to rescue her, and A promptly reported the incident to the Coast Guard.
Upon receiving the report, the Wando Coast Guard dispatched a coastal patrol boat from the Wando Police Station and the Wando Rescue Team to the scene.
The rescue team arrived within six minutes of the report, and a rescue officer entered the water directly to safely rescue both B and C.
After being rescued, both individuals were found to be in good health and returned home safely.
A Wando Coast Guard official stated, “Thanks to the quick report and our rapid response, we were able to prevent a loss of life,” adding, “We urge the public to exercise extreme caution, especially at night or after consuming alcohol, when approaching coastal or marine areas.”
