해남군, “야외활동에는 어린이 안전조끼 꼭 착용하세요!”

해남군이 아이들의 안전한 야외활동을 지원하기 위해 관내 모든 어린이집과 유치원에 어린이 안전조끼 1,020벌을 배부했다.

이번 사업은 현장체험학습, 소풍, 체육활동 등 외부활동 시 발생할 수 있는 돌발 안전사고를 예방하기 위한 선제적 조치다.

■ 증가하는 어린이 야외활동 안전사고
행정안전부 통계에 따르면, 최근 3년간 전국에서 발생한 어린이 안전사고의 약 40%가 야외활동 중 발생한 것으로 나타났다.

특히 등·하원길, 체험학습, 운동장에서의 돌발 행동으로 인해 교통사고나 충돌 사고가 빈번하게 보고되고 있다.

일부 유럽 국가에서는 이러한 위험을 줄이기 위해 형광조끼와 반사용품 착용을 의무화하는 추세다.

해남군 역시 어린이 안전복지 강화를 위해 이번 사업을 추진하게 됐다.

■ 눈에 잘 띄는 디자인… 교통사고 예방 효과
이번에 보급된 어린이 안전조끼는 밝은 노란색에 빛 반사띠가 둘러져 있어, 차량 운전자와 보호자가 멀리서도 어린이를 쉽게 확인할 수 있도록 제작됐다.

이는 교통사고 예방과 더불어 야외활동에서의 돌발사고 위험을 크게 줄일 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

■ 현장 반응 “아이들 안전관리 부담 줄었다”
군은 가을 신학기부터 모든 어린이집과 유치원에서 야외활동 시 안전조끼 착용을 권장하고 있다.

교사들은 “멀리서도 아이들이 쉽게 눈에 띄어 안전 관리 부담이 줄었다”며 긍정적인 반응을 보이고 있다.

군 관계자는 “미래 세대인 우리 아이들이 안전하고 행복하게 자랄 수 있는 환경을 만드는 것이 행정의 책무”라며, “앞으로도 어린이 안전복지 실현을 위해 적극 노력하겠다.”고 밝혔다.

■ Rising number of child outdoor accidents
According to statistics from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, about 40% of child safety accidents nationwide over the past three years occurred during outdoor activities.
In particular, traffic accidents and collisions are frequently reported due to sudden movements on the way to and from school, during field trips, and on playgrounds.
Some European countries have made it mandatory for children to wear fluorescent vests and reflective items to reduce such risks. Haenam County has introduced this project in line with its commitment to strengthening child safety and welfare.
■ Highly visible design helps prevent traffic accidents
The safety vests distributed feature a bright yellow color with reflective strips, making it easy for drivers and guardians to spot children from a distance.
This design is expected to significantly reduce the risk of both traffic accidents and sudden incidents during outdoor activities.
■ Positive feedback from the field
Starting this fall semester, Haenam County recommends that all daycare centers and kindergartens ensure children wear safety vests during outdoor activities.
Teachers responded positively, saying, “Children are much easier to spot from afar, which reduces the burden of safety management.”
A county official stated, “It is the duty of the local government to create an environment where our future generations can grow up safely and happily. We will continue to make active efforts to improve children’s safety and welfare.”
