초등학생의 따뜻한 감사 편지, 경찰과 주민을 잇는 감동의 순간

해남경찰서 읍내지구대(대장 박석정)에서는 지난 8월 19일, 초등학교 3학년 학생 윤○○이 직접 쓴 감사 편지를 들고 지구대를 방문해 경찰관들에게 따뜻한 마음을 전하는 특별한 순간이 있었다.

윤 학생은 얼마 전 부모님이 뺑소니 교통사고를 당했을 당시, 신속한 현장 수습과 범인 검거에 힘쓴 경찰관들의 노고에 깊은 감동을 받아, 진심 어린 감사의 마음을 손수 편지에 담아 전달했다.

이날 윤 학생은 지구대 경찰관들 앞에서 직접 편지를 낭독하며,
“신고 후에 범인을 잡는 데 오랜 시간이 걸릴 줄 알았는데 금방 잡아주셔서 역시 신뢰를 저버리지 않는 경찰관님이라고 생각했습니다.
항상 행복하시길 바랍니다.”라는 진심 어린 메시지를 전해 현장을 훈훈하게 했다.

이에 경찰관들은 “어린 학생이 전해준 감사의 마음에 오히려 우리가 큰 힘을 받았다.”며 “앞으로도 군민의 안전과 행복을 지키기 위해 최선을 다 하겠다.”고 화답했다.

이번 사연은 지역사회에 큰 울림을 주며, 경찰과 주민이 서로 믿고 의지하는 소중한 계기가 되고 있다.

At the Haenam Police Station Eupnae Substation (Chief Park Seok-jung), on August 19, a touching scene unfolded when Yoon ○○, a third-grade elementary school student, personally visited the substation with a handwritten thank-you letter to express gratitude to the police officers.
The student was deeply moved by the officers’ swift response in handling the scene and apprehending the suspect when the student’s parents were recently involved in a hit-and-run accident. To show appreciation for their dedication, Yoon carefully wrote and delivered the letter.
On that day, Yoon read the letter aloud in front of the officers, saying:
“I thought it would take a long time to catch the suspect after we reported the accident, but you caught them so quickly. I realized once again that the police never betray our trust. I sincerely hope you will always be happy.”
This heartfelt message brought warmth to the entire room.
In response, the officers said, “We are the ones who gained great strength from the gratitude expressed by such a young student. We will continue to do our utmost to protect the safety and happiness of our residents.”
