민족 대명절 설을 앞두고 해남의 장터와 복지 현장에 따뜻한 온기가 스며들었다.

해남군의회(의장 이성옥)는 11일 오전 해남읍 5일 시장에서 설맞이 장보기 행사를 진행하고, 이어 관내 사회복지시설을 방문해 위문품을 전달하며 이웃과 정을 나누는 시간을 가졌다.

이날 장보기 행사에는 해남군의회 의원들과 의회사무과 직원들이 함께했다.
경기 침체와 소비 위축으로 어려움을 겪고 있는 전통시장 상인들에게 힘을 보태고자 직접 장터를 찾은 것이다.

의원들은 지역에서 생산된 농수산물과 제수용품을 구입하며 상인들과 안부를 나누고, 현장의 애로사항을 경청했다.
단순한 소비를 넘어 지역경제를 살리는 ‘현장 의정’의 실천이었다.
설을 준비하는 군민들에게는 전통시장의 품질 좋은 상품과 합리적인 가격을 알리는 홍보의 의미도 더했다.

이어 군의회는 선회노인요양원과 등대원을 비롯한 관내 12개 노인요양시설 및 아동시설을 찾아 생활용품을 전달하고 종사자들을 격려했다.

시설 관계자들과 마주 앉아 현장의 목소리를 듣고, 어르신과 아이들의 안부를 묻는 자리에서는 따뜻한 웃음과 감사의 인사가 오갔다.
명절이면 더 크게 느껴지는 외로움과 소외감을 덜어주고, 공동체의 정을 전하는 시간이었다.

이성옥 의장은 “전통시장에서 품질 좋고 합리적인 가격의 제수용품을 준비하셔서 풍성한 설 명절 보내시길 바란다.”며 “어려운 상황 속에서도 묵묵히 헌신하고 계시는 복지시설 종사자 여러분께 깊이 감사드린다.”고 말했다.

이어 “해남군의회는 앞으로도 어려운 이웃과 지역경제를 함께 살피는 세심한 의정활동을 이어가겠다.”며 “군민의 삶 가까이에서 희망을 만드는 의회가 되겠다.”고 강조했다.

설 명절을 앞둔 장터의 분주함 속에서, 그리고 복지시설의 조용한 공간에서 나눈 작은 손길은 분명 큰 울림이 되었다.

해남군의회의 이번 행보는 단순한 위문을 넘어, 지역경제와 공동체를 함께 살피는 ‘따뜻한 정치’가 무엇인지를 보여준 하루였다.

“Smiles Bloom in the Lunar New Year Market, Warmth Spreads to Every Neighbor”
Haenam County Council shares hope through traditional market shopping and visits to welfare facilities
Ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, warmth quietly spread across Haenam’s marketplace and welfare community.
The Haenam County Council (Chairperson Lee Seong-ok) held a Lunar New Year traditional market shopping event at the Haenam-eup Five-Day Market on the morning of the 11th. The council members then visited local social welfare facilities to deliver donations and share heartfelt encouragement with residents.
Council members and staff of the council secretariat participated in the market event. They visited the market in person to support traditional market merchants and small business owners who have been struggling amid the economic slowdown and reduced consumer spending.
The members purchased locally produced agricultural and marine products, as well as holiday ceremonial items, exchanging greetings with merchants and listening carefully to their concerns. It was more than simple consumption—it was an act of “field-centered governance” aimed at revitalizing the local economy. At the same time, it helped promote the quality and affordability of traditional market goods to residents preparing for the holiday.
Following the market visit, the council delivered daily necessities and words of encouragement to 12 local facilities for the elderly and children, including Seonhoe Nursing Home and Deungdaewon.
During conversations with facility staff, warm smiles and words of gratitude were exchanged while checking on the well-being of elderly residents and children. The visit helped ease the loneliness and sense of isolation that can feel more pronounced during the holidays, reinforcing the spirit of community.
Chairperson Lee Seong-ok stated, “I hope residents will prepare high-quality and reasonably priced ceremonial items at our traditional market and enjoy a plentiful Lunar New Year.” She added, “I sincerely thank the staff of our welfare facilities who continue to dedicate themselves under difficult circumstances.”
She further emphasized, “The Haenam County Council will continue its attentive legislative activities, caring for both vulnerable neighbors and the local economy. We will strive to be a council that creates hope close to the lives of our residents.”
Amid the bustle of the holiday marketplace and the quiet spaces of welfare facilities, the small gestures of care shared that day left a lasting resonance.
The council’s actions went beyond a simple holiday visit, demonstrating what truly warm and community-centered governance looks like in practice.
