4완도 앞바다에서 침수 사고를 당한 어선이 해경의 신속한 초동 대응으로 더 큰 참사 없이 구조됐다. 골든타임을 지킨 대응이 인명피해를 막았다.

완도해양경찰서(서장 김태환)는 4일 오전 11시 42분경 전남 완도군 신지도 강독선착장 인근 해상에서 어선 A호(6.67톤, 양식장관리선)가 침수 중이라는 신고를 접수하고 즉시 현장에 출동해 승선원 2명을 구조했다고 밝혔다.

해경에 따르면 A호는 이날 오전 8시경 출항해 미역 채취 작업을 마친 뒤 이동하던 중, 파도의 영향으로 선체가 기울며 침수가 발생한 것으로 파악됐다.

신고를 접수한 완도해경은 인근 경비함정과 파출소 연안구조정, 구조대를 신속히 투입했다. 그 결과 신고 접수 10분 만에 승선원 2명을 무사히 구조하는 데 성공했다.
구조된 승선원들의 건강 상태는 양호한 것으로 확인됐다.

인명 구조 이후에도 해경의 조치는 이어졌다.
선체 침하를 막기 위해 A호에 적재돼 있던 미역을 바다로 옮겨 선체 하중을 줄이고, 배수펌프를 가동해 선내로 유입된 해수를 제거했다.

이후 A호는 예인 조치돼 강독항으로 안전하게 입항했으며, 해양오염 등 추가 피해는 발생하지 않았다.

완도해경 관계자는 “침수 사고는 순식간에 대형 사고로 번질 수 있는 만큼, 초동 대응이 생명을 좌우한다.”며 “앞으로도 해상 사고 발생 시 한 치의 지체도 없이 대응해 인명 피해 예방에 최선을 다하겠다.”고 강조했다.

“Ten Minutes Made the Difference Between Life and Death”
Fishing Boat Taking on Water off Wando Coast Rescued with Zero Casualties Thanks to Coast Guard’s Rapid Initial Response
A fishing boat that began taking on water off the coast of Wando was rescued without further disaster thanks to the swift initial response of the Korea Coast Guard. Timely action during the golden hour prevented any loss of life.
The Wando Coast Guard (Chief Kim Tae-hwan) said that at approximately 11:42 a.m. on the 4th, it received a report that Fishing Vessel A (6.67 tons, aquaculture management vessel) was flooding in waters near Gangdok Pier off Sinji Island, Wando County, South Jeolla Province. The Coast Guard immediately dispatched units to the scene and successfully rescued the two crew members on board.
According to the Coast Guard, Vessel A departed at around 8:00 a.m. the same day and, after completing seaweed harvesting operations, began moving to another location when waves caused the vessel to list, leading to flooding.
Upon receiving the report, the Wando Coast Guard promptly deployed nearby patrol vessels, coastal rescue boats from the local station, and rescue teams. As a result, both crew members were safely rescued within 10 minutes of the report being received. The rescued individuals were confirmed to be in good health.
Following the successful rescue, the Coast Guard continued emergency measures to prevent the vessel from sinking further. The seaweed loaded on board was transferred into the sea to reduce the vessel’s weight, and drainage pumps were used to remove seawater that had entered the hull.
Vessel A was then taken under tow and safely brought into Gangdok Port. No secondary damage, including marine pollution, was reported.
A Wando Coast Guard official stated, “Flooding accidents can escalate into major disasters in a very short time, making rapid initial response absolutely critical,” adding, “We will continue to respond without delay to maritime accidents to prevent loss of life.”
