“해남교도소 새 시대 연다”… 김남진 제19대 소장 취임

해남교도소의 새로운 수장이 공식 부임했다.

지난 12월 1일(월), 김남진 서기관이 제19대 해남교도소장으로 취임하며 새로운 교정 행정의 출발을 알렸다.

간소한 취임식을 마친 뒤 그는 즉시 공식 업무에 돌입해 강한 책임감과 결의를 드러냈다.

■ “세대·직급을 넘어선 존중, 그리고 흔들림 없는 수용질서”… 취임 일성

취임식은 해남교도소 사무청사 2층 대회의실에서 소속 직원들이 참석한 가운데 진행됐다.

김남진 소장은 첫 인사에서 다음과 같은 핵심 메시지를 전했다.

“직급과 세대를 초월해 서로를 존중하는 조직문화를 반드시 정착시키겠다.”

“엄정한 수용질서 확립은 교정의 기본… 누구도 흔들 수 없는 원칙을 바로 세우겠다.”

그는 구성원 간 소통과 신뢰를 바탕으로 한 조직혁신, 그리고 안정된 교정환경 조성을 최우선 과제로 제시했다.

■ 교정 현장을 두루 거친 실무형 리더… “이제 해남에서 새로운 기준을 세우겠다.”

김 소장은 1997년 교정간부로 임용된 이후 진주교도소 총무과장, 광주교도소 민원과장 등 주요 직책을 맡으며 실무 경험을 탄탄히 쌓았다.

2021년 서기관으로 승진한 뒤에는 광주교도소 총무과장, 광주지방교정청 보안과장, 목포교도소장을 역임하며 교정행정 전반에서 균형 있는 리더십을 보여 왔다.

이번 취임을 계기로 그는 “해남교도소는 지역사회와 교정행정 신뢰 구축의 중요한 기관”이라며 “직원들과 함께 더 안전하고 더 따뜻한 교정환경을 만들겠다. 책임과 사명으로 새로운 기준을 세우겠다.”는 각오를 밝혔다.

■ 미래 교정을 향한 첫걸음
김남진 소장의 취임은 해남교도소가 ‘엄정함 속의 소통’, ‘원칙 속의 혁신’을 함께 추구하는 새로운 변화의 시대로 나아감을 의미한다.

A new leader has officially taken the helm at Haenam Prison.
On Monday, December 1, Senior Executive Officer Kim Nam-jin was inaugurated as the 19th Warden of Haenam Prison, signaling the start of a new chapter in correctional administration.
After a brief inauguration ceremony, he immediately began his official duties, demonstrating strong responsibility and determination.
■ “Respect Across Generations and Ranks, and Unwavering Order”… His First Message as Warden
The inauguration ceremony was held in the main conference room on the second floor of the administrative building, with staff members in attendance.
In his inaugural address, Warden Kim delivered two core messages:
“We will establish an organizational culture grounded in mutual respect, transcending rank and generation.”
“Maintaining strict order among inmates is the foundation of corrections… We will uphold principles that nothing can shake.”
He emphasized organizational innovation based on communication and trust among staff, along with the creation of a stable correctional environment as top priorities.
■ A Field-Experienced Leader in Corrections
“I will set a new standard here in Haenam.”
Since his appointment as a correctional officer in 1997, Kim has accumulated extensive field experience, serving as General Affairs Director at Jinju Prison and Civil Affairs Director at Gwangju Prison.
After his promotion to Senior Executive Officer in 2021, he continued to demonstrate balanced leadership while serving as General Affairs Director at Gwangju Prison, Security Director at the Gwangju Regional Corrections Headquarters, and Warden of Mokpo Prison.
Marking his new beginning in Haenam, he stated:
“Haenam Prison plays a crucial role in earning the trust of both the local community and the correctional system. Together with our staff, I will create a safer and more humane correctional environment. With responsibility and conviction, we will set a new standard.”

Warden Kim’s inauguration signals Haenam Prison’s shift toward a new era—one that pursues communication grounded in discipline and innovation rooted in principle.
