대한민국 국민이라면 누구나 위급할 때 가장 먼저 떠올리는 번호 119. 응급환자의 생명을 구하기 위해 단 1초라도 빨리 현장에 도착하고자 최선을 다하는 119구급대는 오늘도 쉬지 않고 달리고 있습니다.

그러나 일부 비응급 상황에서의 구급차 오·남용으로 정말로 위급한 환자가 소중한 골든타임을 놓치는 경우가 발생할 수 있어 국민들의 인식 개선이 절실합니다.

우리 진도소방서에서는 올바른 구급차 이용 문화 정착을 위해 아래와 같은 홍보와 교육을 추진하고 있습니다.

???? 비응급 상황에서의 119 신고는 자제해야
단순 감기, 만성질환 관리, 정기 병원 이송 등 생명에 지장이 없는 비응급 상황에서의 119 신고는 중증 환자에게 구급차가 신속하게 도달하는 데 장애가 됩니다.

이로 인해 소중한 생명을 구할 수 있는 골든타임을 놓칠 위험이 커지므로, 비응급 환자의 119구급차 이용을 자제해 주시길 당부 드립니다.

???? 구급대원 폭언·폭행은 생명을 위협하는 중대 범죄
응급 현장에서 헌신하는 119구급대원에게 하는 폭언·폭행은 생명을 위협하는 중대한 범죄입니다.

현행법상 구급대원에 대한 폭언·폭행은 명백한 범죄 행위로 규정되어 가해자는 형사 처벌 대상이 됩니다.

구급대원이 안전하고 신속하게 임무를 수행할 수 있도록 국민들의 인식 개선과 배려가 무엇보다 중요합니다.


???? 구급대원의 이송 병원 선정 권한을 신뢰하고 존중해야
최근 현장에 출동하여 환자를 이송하는 과정에서 구급대원의 병원 선정에 대한 이의제기와 불만을 말씀하는 경우가 종종 있습니다.

이는 응급 현장에서 신속한 이송과 치료에 지장을 초래할 뿐 아니라, 구급대원들의 업무 수행에도 어려움을 가중시킵니다.

119구급대원은 현장에서 환자의 상태를 가장 정확히 판단하고, 생명과 안전을 최우선으로 고려하여 이송 병원을 결정합니다.

구급대원의 전문적인 판단을 신뢰하고 그들의 권한을 존중해 주실 것을 바랍니다.

???? 비응급 시에는 119 상황실에서 상담 가능
생명이 위독하거나, 급성 증상이 있는 경우에는 지체 없이 119에 신고해야 하지만, 비 응급환자의 경우 24시간 119상황실에 연락하여 의료상담·약국안내·응급처치 방법 등을 안내받을 수 있습니다.

모두의 작은 배려와 관심이 소중한 생명을 살리는 큰 힘이 됩니다. 올바른 119구급차 이용은 국민 모두의 생명을 지키기 위한 중요한 과제임을 기억해야 합니다.

For every citizen of South Korea, the first number that comes to mind in an emergency is 119. The 119 emergency medical service (EMS) teams work tirelessly to reach the scene as quickly as possible to save lives, leaving no second wasted.
However, misuse of ambulances in non-emergency situations can prevent critically ill patients from receiving timely care, potentially costing precious “golden time.” Therefore, public awareness of proper ambulance use is urgently needed.
At Jindo Fire Station, we are promoting awareness and education to foster a culture of appropriate ambulance use, as outlined below:
???? Avoid calling 119 for non-emergency situations
For minor illnesses, chronic disease management, or routine hospital transfers that do not threaten life, calling 119 can delay ambulance response to critically ill patients.
Such misuse increases the risk of missing the critical golden window to save lives. We kindly ask the public to refrain from using 119 ambulances for non-emergencies.
???? Verbal abuse or assault against EMS personnel is a serious crime
Verbal abuse or physical assault against 119 EMS personnel who dedicate themselves on the frontlines is a grave offense.
Under current law, such acts are considered criminal and offenders are subject to prosecution. Public understanding and respect are crucial to ensuring EMS personnel can safely and swiftly perform their duties.
???? Trust and respect EMS personnel’s authority to select hospitals
There have been instances where patients or caregivers question or complain about the hospitals EMS personnel choose during patient transport.
This can hinder prompt emergency care and place additional stress on EMS personnel.
119 EMS teams assess patients on-site and select the hospital with the patient’s life and safety as the top priority. We ask the public to trust their professional judgment and respect their authority.
???? Consult the 119 dispatch center for non-emergencies
If a patient’s life is in danger or symptoms are acute, call 119 immediately. For non-emergency situations, the 24-hour 119 dispatch center provides medical consultation, pharmacy guidance, and emergency care instructions.
Even small acts of consideration and attention can save lives. Proper use of 119 ambulances is a vital responsibility that protects the lives of all citizens.
