해남군, 전선 지중화 박차… “전봇대 없는 거리 환해졌어요”

해남군이 북부순환로 전선 지중화 사업을 속도감 있게 추진하며 ‘전봇대 없는 거리’ 조성에 박차를 가하고 있다.

군은 문화원 사거리 광남빌라 천변교에 이르는 북부순환로 450m 구간에서 지난해부터 관로 매설과 도로 포장, 지상 케이블 철거를 순차적으로 완료했으며, 현재 전신주 철거가 마무리 단계에 들어섰다.

이번 철거는 이달 중 완료될 예정이다.

전선과 통신선을 지하에 매설해 전신주와 지상 케이블을 제거함으로써 도시 미관은 물론, 태풍·화재 등 재해 시 발생할 수 있는 안전사고 예방에도 큰 효과가 기대된다.

앞서 해남군은 신청사 주변 700m와 해남군청주공1차아파트서림공원~(구)광주은행사거리중앙1로(천변교) 등 1,810m 구간의 지중화 사업을 성공적으로 완료했다.

오는 9월부터는 중앙2로(구 광주은행 사거리해남교 300m) 구간에 대한 사업을 착공해 내년까지 마무리할 계획이다.

군 관계자는 “전신주 철거가 본격화되면서 군민들이 체감할 수 있는 쾌적한 보행 환경이 조성되고 있다.”며, “앞으로도 지중화 사업을 차질 없이 추진해 안전하고 아름다운 도시환경을 만들어가겠다.”고 밝혔다.

한편, 해남군 전선 지중화 사업은 2022년 ‘그린뉴딜 지중화 공모사업’에 선정돼 추진 중이며, 도심 경관 개선과 주민 생활 안전을 동시에 잡는 대표적인 도시환경 혁신 사업으로 주목받고 있다.

Haenam County Accelerates Underground Power Line Project… “Brighter Streets Without Utility Poles”
― Enhancing urban aesthetics and creating safe pedestrian spaces with tangible benefits for residents ―
Haenam County is expediting its underground power line project along the Northern Ring Road, pushing forward with the creation of “streets without utility poles.”
The county has already completed conduit installation, road paving, and removal of overhead cables along a 450-meter section from Munhwaweon Intersection to Gwangnam Villa and Cheonbyeon Bridge since last year. The removal of utility poles in this section is now in its final stage and scheduled for completion within this month.
By relocating power and communication lines underground, the project is expected to not only improve the urban landscape but also reduce risks of safety accidents caused by natural disasters such as typhoons and fires.
Previously, the county successfully completed underground cabling for a 700-meter stretch surrounding the new county office building, as well as a 1,810-meter section covering Haenam County Office–Jugong 1st Apartment–Seorim Park–(former) Gwangju Bank Intersection–Jungang 1-ro (Cheonbyeon Bridge).
Starting in September, the county will begin work on a 300-meter section of Jungang 2-ro (former Gwangju Bank Intersection–Haenam Bridge), aiming for completion by next year.
A county official stated, “As the removal of utility poles progresses, residents are experiencing a noticeable improvement in the pedestrian environment. We will continue to carry out the underground cabling project without setbacks to ensure both safety and a more beautiful urban environment.”
Meanwhile, Haenam County’s underground power line initiative was selected in 2022 as part of the national “Green New Deal Underground Cabling Project” and is being carried out to simultaneously enhance the cityscape and ensure public safety. It is recognized as a representative urban innovation project.
