해남군교육재단 꿈보배학교가 디지털 문해교육을 도입하며 성인 문해교육의 영역을 넓혀가고 있다.

‘꿈을 보며 배우는 학교’라는 뜻을 가진 꿈보배학교는 초등학력 인정과정, 기초 문해교육, 디지털 문해교육 등 다양한 프로그램을 운영하며 평생학습 기회의 장을 제공하고 있다.

초등학력인정 과정은 학업을 이어가지 못한 성인들에게 3년간 단계별 과정을 이수하면 초등학력을 인정받을 수 있도록 지원해 배움의 기회를 열어주고 있다.

현재 14개 읍·면에서 한글, 산수, 미술 등 기초문해교육도 활발히 진행되고 있으며, 지난 2018년 3개소 30명으로 시작한 문해교육은 올해 86개소 326명으로 확대돼 지역민들의 ‘두 번째 학교’로 자리매김하고 있다.

특히 올해는 디지털 전환 시대에 맞춰 스마트폰 활용, 키오스크 사용 등 생활 밀착형 디지털 문해교육을 병행해 큰 호응을 얻고 있다.

대부분이 어르신들인 문해학교 학습자들은 문자 해득을 넘어 현대 사회에 꼭 필요한 디지털 역량을 쌓으며, 배움의 즐거움과 자신감을 동시에 얻고 있다.

꿈보배학교는 단순한 문해교육을 넘어 평생학습의 공간으로 발전하고 있다.

지난해 전국과 전남 성인문해 시화전에서 교육부장관상 등 다수의 수상을 기록했으며, 140명의 수료생이 작품 전시를 통해 배움의 성과를 나누는 자리도 마련했다.

군 관계자는 “배움에 대한 열망을 가진 성인들에게 실생활에 꼭 필요한 교육을 제공해 삶이 더 즐겁고 편리해질 것으로 기대한다.”며 “앞으로도 누구도 소외되지 않는 평생학습 환경을 조성하고, 다양한 학습 기회를 지속적으로 마련하겠다.”고 밝혔다.

디지털 홍수 시대, 빠르게 변하는 사회를 따라잡는 것은 어르신들에게 쉽지 않지만, 꿈보배학교의 문해교육은 그 한계를 뛰어넘는 희망의 배움터로 자리매김하고 있다.

Haenam Expands Horizons of Adult Literacy with Digital Education
― Customized programs for seniors, including smartphone and kiosk use, gaining strong response ―
The Haenam Education Foundation’s “Kkumbobae School” has introduced digital literacy education, opening a new chapter in adult literacy.
“Kkumbobae School,” which means “a school to learn while dreaming,” offers various programs such as the Elementary School Diploma Recognition Course, Basic Literacy Education, and Digital Literacy Education, providing lifelong learning opportunities for local residents.
The Elementary School Diploma Recognition Course supports adults who were unable to continue their studies, allowing them to obtain an elementary school diploma after completing a three-year, step-by-step curriculum. Currently, 14 towns and villages offer classes in Korean, math, art, and other basic subjects. What began in 2018 with 3 classrooms and 30 learners has now expanded to 86 classrooms with 326 learners, becoming a true “second school” for residents.
In particular, this year the school is offering practical digital literacy education, including how to use smartphones and kiosks, in line with the digital transformation era. The majority of learners, who are seniors, are now going beyond reading and writing to acquire essential digital skills, gaining both the joy of learning and the confidence to navigate modern society.
Kkumbobae School has grown beyond simple literacy education into a space for lifelong learning. Last year, learners won multiple awards, including the Minister of Education Prize, at national and provincial Adult Literacy Writing Contests. In addition, 140 graduates held an exhibition to share the meaning of learning through their works.
A county official stated, “We expect that by providing education necessary for daily life, adults with a passion for learning will enjoy a more convenient and fulfilling life. We will continue to build an inclusive lifelong learning environment and create diverse opportunities for education.”
???? In today’s flood of digital information, keeping pace with rapid social change is not easy for seniors. Yet, Kkumbobae School’s literacy programs are overcoming those limits and establishing themselves as a beacon of hope for learning.
