진도소방서가 9월 26일 지산면 소앵무마을에서 화재취약지역 대응력 강화를 위한 비상소화장치 시연회를 열었다.

이번 행사는 주민 스스로 초기 화재를 대응할 수 있는 역량을 높이고, 현장 맞춤형 소방용수 확보를 통해 화재진압 효율성을 강화하기 위해 마련됐다.

특히 화재 사각지대 해소를 위한 공공 화재진압시설 확충과 소방용수 보강 등 지역 맞춤형 소방안전 정책의 일환으로 추진됐다.

행사에는 진도소방서와 의용소방대, 마을 주민 등 60여 명이 참여해 도입 취지 설명, 소방관·주민 합동 시연, 화재예방 캠페인, 감지기 보급 활동 등을 진행했다.

주민들은 마을 이장의 안내로 직접 장비 사용법을 배우고 초기 화재 대응 시연에 참여, 자율적인 화재 대응 역량을 높이는 계기가 됐다.

행사 후에는 화재예방 캠페인과 감지기 설치, 건강 체크 등 생활안전 프로그램도 함께 진행돼 주민들의 안전 의식을 높였다.

김재출 진도소방서장은 “이번 시연회를 통해 주민들이 비상소화장치의 중요성을 체감하고, 초기 대응 능력을 키울 수 있기를 기대한다.”며 “앞으로도 지역 맞춤형 소방안전 활동을 통해 더욱 안전한 진도를 만들겠다.”고 말했다.

Jindo Fire Station held a demonstration of newly installed emergency fire suppression equipment on September 26 in Soaengmu Village, Jisan-myeon, to strengthen fire response capabilities in vulnerable areas.
The event aimed to enhance residents’ ability to respond to fires in their early stages and to improve firefighting efficiency by securing water sources suited to local conditions.
In particular, the initiative was part of a region-specific fire safety policy, focusing on expanding public firefighting facilities and reinforcing water supply systems to address blind spots in fire response.
About 60 people, including Jindo Fire Station personnel, members of the volunteer fire brigade, and local residents, participated in the event. The program featured introductions to the initiative’s purpose, joint demonstrations by firefighters and residents, a fire prevention campaign, and the distribution of fire detectors.
Guided by the village head, residents learned how to operate the equipment and took part in live demonstrations of early-stage fire response, thereby strengthening their capacity for autonomous firefighting.
Following the demonstration, additional activities such as a fire prevention campaign, fire detector installations, and health check-ups were conducted to raise community awareness of safety.
Jindo Fire Chief Kim Jae-chul said, “Through this demonstration, we hope residents can truly appreciate the importance of emergency firefighting equipment and improve their initial response capabilities. We will continue to promote tailored fire safety measures to make Jindo a safer community.”
