진도 팽목항 인근 해상에서 70대 남성이 바다에 빠져 병원으로 옮겨졌으나 숨졌다.
목포MBC와 지역 언론 보도에 따르면, 2026년 10월 10일 오후 5시 40분대 진도군 임회면 팽목항 인근 해상에 사람이 빠졌다는 신고가 접수됐다.
출동한 해경은 70대 남성 A씨를 심정지 상태로 구조했다. A씨는 심폐소생술 등 응급조치를 받고 소방 당국에 의해 인근 병원으로 이송됐으나 사망했다.
광주CBS는 목포해경을 인용해 A씨가 혼자 소형 레저보트를 타고 바다낚시를 마친 뒤 팽목항으로 돌아오던 중이었다고 보도했다.
해경은 주변 CCTV 영상과 목격자 진술 등을 토대로 정확한 사고 경위를 조사하고 있다.

A man in his 70s died after falling into the sea near Paengmok Port in Jindo and being taken to hospital.
According to Mokpo MBC and local media reports, authorities received a report that a person had fallen into waters near Paengmok Port in Imhoe-myeon, Jindo County, between 5:40 p.m. and 5:49 p.m. on October 10, 2026.
Coast Guard responders rescued the man, identified only as A, who was in cardiac arrest. He received CPR and other emergency treatment before being transported to a nearby hospital by fire and rescue personnel, but died.
Citing the Mokpo Coast Guard, Gwangju CBS reported that the man had gone sea fishing alone in a small recreational boat and was returning to Paengmok Port.
The Coast Guard is investigating the circumstances of the incident by reviewing nearby CCTV footage and witness statements.
