추석 명절을 앞두고 해남경찰서와 지역 협력단체가 생활에 어려움을 겪는 조손가정과 탈북민을 직접 찾아 위문품을 전달하며 따뜻한 온정을 나눴다.
해남경찰서(서장 박미영)는 경찰발전협의회(회장 최성균), 안보자문협의회(회장 김옥민)와 함께 추석을 맞아 지역 내 조손가정과 탈북민을 방문해 위문품을 전달하고 안부를 살폈다고 22일 밝혔다.
이번 위문은 명절을 앞두고 상대적으로 소외되기 쉬운 취약계층을 살피고 지역사회에 나눔 문화를 확산하기 위해 마련됐다.
특히 해남경찰서는 단순히 위문품을 전달하는 데 그치지 않고 대상자들의 생활 속 불편사항과 어려움을 직접 듣는 등 현장 소통에도 나섰다.
추석 명절을 전후해 발생 우려가 높은 각종 다중피해사기에 대한 범죄예방 활동도 함께 진행했다. 경찰은 주민들이 피해를 입지 않도록 범죄 유형과 예방의 중요성을 알리며 각별한 주의를 당부했다.
위문을 받은 한 조손가정 주민은 “명절이 다가오면 걱정이 앞섰는데 경찰관들이 직접 찾아와 안부를 묻고 도움을 줘 큰 위로가 된다”며 감사의 마음을 전했다.
탈북민도 “매 명절마다 탈북민에게 관심을 가져줘 항상 감사하다”며 “우리도 많은 도움을 받은 만큼 사회에 베풀며 열심히 살아가겠다”고 말했다.
해남경찰서는 앞으로도 협력단체와 함께 지역 내 사회적 약자와 취약계층을 살피는 활동을 이어가는 한편 주민들이 체감할 수 있는 범죄예방 활동을 지속적으로 추진할 방침이다.
박미영 해남경찰서장은 “작은 정성이지만 추석 명절을 보내는 데 따뜻한 위로가 되었기를 바란다.”며 “앞으로도 지역 주민의 든든한 울타리가 될 수 있도록 사회적 약자를 세심하게 살피는 따뜻한 경찰이 되겠다.”고 밝혔다.

Ahead of the Chuseok holiday, the Haenam Police Station and its community partner organizations visited grandparent-headed families and North Korean defectors facing financial and social difficulties, delivering care packages and sharing words of comfort and encouragement.
The Haenam Police Station, headed by Chief Park Mi-young, said on September 22 that it had joined the Police Development Council, chaired by Choi Seong-gyun, and the Security Advisory Council, chaired by Kim Ok-min, in visiting vulnerable households and North Korean defectors in the community.
The outreach initiative was organized to support people who may feel particularly isolated during the holiday season and to foster a culture of sharing and mutual care throughout the local community.
Rather than simply delivering care packages, police officers took time to listen to the recipients’ concerns and difficulties, strengthening communication with vulnerable residents.
The police also conducted crime-prevention activities aimed at protecting residents from fraud schemes that may become more prevalent around the Chuseok holiday. They explained common types of fraud and urged residents to remain vigilant to avoid becoming victims.
One recipient from a grandparent-headed family said, “As the holiday approached, I was worried about how we would get through it. Having police officers come in person to check on us and offer support has been a great comfort.”
A North Korean defector said, “I am always grateful that they continue to care about North Korean defectors during every holiday. We have received a great deal of help, and we will work hard to give back to society in return.”
The Haenam Police Station said it will continue working with community partner organizations to support socially vulnerable residents while expanding crime-prevention activities that local residents can directly benefit from.
Chief Park Mi-young said, “Although it is only a small gesture, I hope it brings some warmth and comfort during the Chuseok holiday.”
“We will continue to serve as a strong and dependable safeguard for our residents and strive to be a caring police force that closely looks after socially vulnerable members of our community,” she added.
