황산파출소는 최근 남리 5일시장 일원에서 고령 보행자 교통사망 사고가 발생함에 따라 시장 방문객과 상인들을 대상으로 교통안전수칙을 안내하고 보행자 우선의 교통문화 정착을 집중적으로 홍보했다고 21일 밝혔다.
이번 캠페인에는 명현관 해남군수를 비롯해 박동인 해남군산림조합장, 이광재 황산면장, 황산파출소 생활안전협의회와 자율방범대 등 지역 주요 기관·사회단체 관계자들이 참여했다.
참석자들은 시장 이용객들에게 도로를 건널 때 반드시 좌우를 살피고 횡단보도를 이용할 것을 당부했다. 운전자들에게는 시장 주변에서 속도를 줄이고 고령 보행자와 교통약자를 우선 보호하는 안전운전을 실천해 달라고 안내했다.
특히 명절을 앞두고 시장 주변의 차량과 보행자 통행량이 증가할 것으로 예상되는 만큼 불법 주정차와 과속을 삼가고, 운전자와 보행자 모두 교통법규를 준수해야 한다고 강조했다.
교통안전 캠페인과 함께 지역경제에 활력을 불어넣기 위한 명절 장보기 행사도 진행됐다.
이광재 황산면장과 참석자들은 해남사랑상품권과 온누리상품권을 이용해 제수용품과 지역 농수산물 등을 구매하며 전통시장 이용을 독려했다. 침체된 지역상권 활성화와 건전한 소비문화 조성을 위한 물가안정 캠페인도 병행했다.
정주완 황산파출소장은 “추석 명절을 맞아 전통시장을 찾는 지역주민과 방문객들이 안심하고 시장을 이용할 수 있도록 유관기관 및 사회단체와 긴밀하게 협력하겠다”며 “앞으로도 고령자와 교통약자의 사고를 예방하기 위한 현장 중심의 지도·홍보 활동을 지속적으로 추진하겠다.”고 말했다.

The Hwangsan Police Substation of Haenam Police Station conducted a joint campaign at the Nam-ri Five-Day Market to prevent traffic accidents involving elderly pedestrians and revitalize the traditional market ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
The substation said on Sept. 21 that the campaign was organized following a recent fatal traffic accident involving an elderly pedestrian near the market. Officers informed visitors and merchants about traffic safety rules and promoted a pedestrian-first traffic culture.
Participants included Haenam County Governor Myeong Hyeon-gwan, Haenam County Forestry Cooperative Chairman Park Dong-in, Hwangsan Township Chief Lee Gwang-jae, members of the Hwangsan Police Substation Community Safety Council, local volunteer patrol members and representatives of other community organizations.
Campaign participants urged market visitors to look carefully in both directions before crossing roads and to use designated crosswalks. Drivers were also asked to slow down near the market and practice safe driving that prioritizes elderly pedestrians and other vulnerable road users.
They particularly emphasized that both drivers and pedestrians should comply with traffic regulations, avoid illegal parking and speeding, and exercise greater caution as vehicle and pedestrian traffic around the market is expected to increase ahead of the holiday.
A special holiday shopping event was also held alongside the traffic safety campaign to help stimulate the local economy.
Hwangsan Township Chief Lee Gwang-jae and other participants purchased ceremonial goods and locally produced agricultural and fisheries products using Haenam Love Gift Certificates and Onnuri Gift Certificates. They also encouraged residents to shop at the traditional market.
A separate campaign promoting price stability and responsible consumption was held at the same time to support local businesses struggling with sluggish sales.
“We will work closely with related agencies and community organizations to ensure that residents and visitors can use the traditional market safely during the Chuseok holiday,” said Hwangsan Police Substation Chief Jeong Ju-wan.
“We will continue conducting field-based education and awareness campaigns to prevent accidents involving elderly residents and other vulnerable road users.”
