전라남도가 관광 취약계층의 여행 기회를 넓히기 위해 ‘행복여행활동 지원사업’을 본격 추진한다.

‘행복여행활동 지원사업’은 경제적 어려움이나 거동 불편 등으로 여행이 쉽지 않은 도민에게 맞춤형 여행상품을 지원하는 전남도의 대표 복지관광 시책으로, 올해로 시행 3년째를 맞았다.

지원 대상은 기초생활수급자와 차상위계층 등 저소득층을 비롯해 장애인, 한 부모 가족 등 관광 취약계층으로, 올해 최대 5천 명 규모로 지원이 이뤄질 예정이다.

지원 내용은 1인당 당일 여행 18만 원, 1박 2일 여행 38만 원 상당의 패키지 여행상품이다.
특히 거동이 불편한 장애인이나 70세 이상 고령자의 경우 동반자 1인까지 추가 지원해 여행 접근성을 높였다.
여행상품에는 주요 관광지 방문과 체험 프로그램, 숙박, 식사 등이 포함된다.

올해는 여행상품 구성도 한층 확대됐다.
지난해까지 1박 2일 상품이 완도·진도·신안 등 도서지역 시군으로 한정됐던 것과 달리, 올해는 2개 이상 시군을 연계한 권역형 여행상품과 여수세계섬박람회와 연계한 특화 여행상품이 새롭게 추가됐다.

전남도는 시군별로 2월까지 여행사 공모를 통해 여행상품을 선정한 뒤, 3월부터 본격적으로 여행 참가자 모집에 나설 계획이다.
여행 일정과 세부 내용은 시군별로 다르며, 자세한 사항은 각 시군 관광부서나 누리집에 게시되는 공고문을 통해 확인할 수 있다.

최영주 전남도 관광체육국장은 “여행은 단순한 여가를 넘어 모두가 함께 누려야 할 복지이자 권리”라며 “행복여행활동 지원사업을 통해 도민의 여행 기회를 지속적으로 확대하고, 지역 관광산업에도 새로운 활력을 불어넣겠다.”고 말했다.

Jeonnam Province Expands “Happy Travel” Support for People with Disabilities and Low-Income Residents
— Travel packages linked to the Yeosu World Island Expo also introduced —
Jeollanam-do Province has announced the full-scale implementation of its “Happy Travel Activity Support Program” to expand travel opportunities for tourism-vulnerable groups.
Now in its third year, the program is a flagship welfare-tourism initiative of the province, designed to provide tailored travel packages to residents who face difficulties traveling due to financial hardship or limited mobility.
Eligible beneficiaries include low-income households such as basic livelihood security recipients and near-poverty groups, as well as people with disabilities and single-parent families. This year, the program is expected to support up to 5,000 participants.
Under the program, participants are offered package tours worth KRW 180,000 per person for a one-day trip, or KRW 380,000 for a two-day, one-night trip. For individuals with severe mobility challenges, including people with disabilities and seniors aged 70 or older, one accompanying person is also eligible for additional support to enhance accessibility. The travel packages include visits to major tourist attractions, experiential programs, accommodation, and meals.
This year, the scope of travel products has been further expanded. While two-day, one-night packages were previously limited to island counties such as Wando, Jindo, and Sinan, the program now includes regional tour packages covering two or more cities or counties, as well as specialized travel products linked to the Yeosu World Island Expo.
Jeonnam Province plans to select travel agencies through public calls by February in each city and county, followed by recruitment of travel participants beginning in March. Travel schedules and details vary by local government, and further information can be found through local tourism departments or official announcements posted on municipal websites.
Choi Young-ju, Director General of the Jeonnam Provincial Bureau of Tourism and Sports, said, “Travel goes beyond leisure—it is a form of welfare and a fundamental right that everyone should enjoy,” adding, “Through the Happy Travel Activity Support Program, we will continue to expand travel opportunities for residents while injecting new vitality into the local tourism industry.”
