진도군이 제29회 경로의 달을 맞아 군민 모두가 한마음으로 어르신께 감사와 존경을 전하는 따뜻한 축제의 장을 마련했다.
7개 읍면에서 차례로 열린 경로의 달 행사가 지역사회 곳곳에서 큰 호응 속에 성황리에 마무리된 것이다.
이번 행사는 각 읍면 사회단체가 주관하고 봉사단체가 힘을 보태 치러졌으며, 지난 10월 16일 군내면을 시작으로 11월 6일 조도면까지 이어졌다.
행사의 문은 읍면의 개성을 담은 정감 어린 식전 공연으로 열렸고, 이어서 큰절 올리기, 연수목 지팡이 전달, 유공자 표창, 모아드림 기탁금 전달, 축사, 축하공연 등이 차례로 진행됐다.
특히 올해 처음 선보인 ‘연수목 지팡이’ 전달식은 어르신들의 무병장수를 바라는 주민들의 마음이 고스란히 담긴 가장 큰 감동의 순간이었다.
마을 주민들이 직접 후원해 마련한 지팡이는 “오래오래 건강하시라”는 진심 어린 바람과 함께 장수 어르신들에게 전달돼 행사장을 따뜻하게 물들였다.
김희수 진도군수는 “우리 지역의 어르신들은 진도의 뿌리이자 미래의 희망”이라며 “이번 행사가 존경과 감사의 마음을 직접 전하는 소중한 시간이 되었기를 바란다.”고 전했다.
이어 “앞으로도 노인일자리 확대, 경로당 환경개선 등 어르신 복지 향상을 위해 군정의 모든 역량을 다하겠다.”고 강조했다.
진도군은 앞으로도 어르신이 활기차고 품격 있는 노년을 누릴 수 있는 복지정책을 지속적으로 확대하며, 지역 공동체가 함께 어르신을 공경하는 문화를 더욱 공고히 해나갈 계획이다.

“Honoring the Roots of Jindo with a Deep Bow”
29th Senior Citizens’ Month Celebrated Across All 7 Townships
Jindo-gun marked the 29th Senior Citizens’ Month by creating a heartfelt celebration where the entire community came together to express gratitude and respect for the elderly.
The commemorative events, held sequentially across all seven townships, were met with enthusiastic participation and concluded successfully throughout the region.
Hosted by local civic organizations and supported by various volunteer groups, the events began in Gunnae-myeon on October 16 and continued through Jodo-myeon on November 6.
Each ceremony opened with warm, township-specific pre-performances, followed by a series of programs including a traditional deep bow to elders, the presentation of yunsumok walking sticks, commendations for meritorious individuals, Moa Dream donation ceremonies, congratulatory remarks, and celebratory performances.
A particularly touching highlight was the first-ever presentation of the “yunsumok walking sticks”, symbolizing wishes for the long life and good health of the elderly.
These handcrafted sticks, sponsored by local residents, were delivered to long-lived seniors with the heartfelt message: “May you stay healthy for many years to come.” The moment filled the venue with warmth and emotion.
Jindo County Mayor Kim Hee-soo stated, “Our elderly are the roots and the hope of Jindo,” adding, “I hope this event served as a meaningful opportunity to convey our deep respect and appreciation.”
He further emphasized, “We will continue to dedicate the county’s full capacity to expanding senior employment programs, improving senior center environments, and enhancing welfare services for our elderly residents.”
Jindo-gun plans to continue strengthening welfare policies that support a vibrant and dignified life for seniors, while fostering a community culture that honors and respects the elderly.
