완도해양경찰서(서장 김길규)가 16일, 예고된 강풍과 높은 파도로 연안 안전이 크게 위협받을 것으로 판단하고 연안사고 위험 예보제 ‘주의보’를 긴급 발령했다.
이번 조치는 연안사고 안전관리 규정에 따른 것으로, 해상과 해안가 전역에 즉시 비상경계가 강화됐다.
연안사고 위험 예보제는 기상악화·자연재난으로 사고가 반복될 우려가 있을 때 위험 수준을 관심–주의보–경보 3단계로 구분해 국민에게 사전에 알리는 제도다.
특히 ‘주의보’ 단계는 실제 사고 가능성이 높아지는 상황에서 발령되는 중대 경보로, 각별한 경계가 요구된다.
완도해경은 주의보가 시행되는 16일부터 풍랑주의보가 해제될 때까지 관내 주요 항·포구와 사고 다발 위험구역을 중심으로 순찰을 대폭 확대한다.
또한 파출소 전광판과 안내 시설을 활용해 위험예보 상황을 즉시 공유하며, 실시간 현장 대응 태세를 강화한다는 방침이다.
해경 관계자는 “지금은 작은 실수도 큰 사고로 이어질 수 있는 매우 위험한 상황”이라며 “갯바위·방파제 등 고위험 접근을 반드시 자제하고, 기상정보를 수시로 확인하는 등 개인 안전수칙을 철저히 지켜 달라.”고 강력히 당부했다.
또한 “완도해경도 연안 취약지점 중심의 집중 점검과 사고 예방 활동에 모든 역량을 투입하겠다.”며 높은 경각심을 촉구했다.

Coast Guard Issues Coastal Accident ‘Advisory’… Full-Scale Emergency Response Activated
The Wando Coast Guard (Chief Kim Gil-gyu) issued an urgent Coastal Accident Risk Advisory on the 16th, citing strong winds and high waves forecast to threaten coastal safety.
This measure, enforced under the Coastal Accident Safety Management Regulations, immediately heightens emergency vigilance across coastal and offshore areas.
The Coastal Accident Risk Alert System categorizes danger levels into three stages—Attention, Advisory, and Warning—to notify the public in advance when severe weather or natural hazards increase the likelihood of repeated or imminent accidents.
In particular, the Advisory stage is announced when the probability of accidents becomes significantly high, requiring heightened caution from the public.
Starting on the 16th and continuing until the high seas warning is lifted, the Wando Coast Guard will intensify patrols around major ports, harbors, and accident-prone coastal zones.
Electronic signage and local Coast Guard display boards will also broadcast the advisory in real time, reinforcing swift on-site response readiness.
A Coast Guard official emphasized,
“At this moment, even a small mistake can lead to a major accident. Please avoid high-risk areas such as rocky shores and breakwaters, and closely monitor weather updates while strictly following all personal safety guidelines.”
The official added,
“The Wando Coast Guard will commit all available resources to focused inspections and preventive measures in vulnerable coastal areas.” urging strong public vigilance.
