최근 전남 곳곳에서 공공기관이나 군부대, 연예인 소속사 등을 사칭, ‘노쇼 사기’가 잇따르고 있다.

목포 MBC 보도에 따르면 올해 전남 지역에서만 130건 이상의 피해가 발생했으며, 단순한 예약 부도가 아닌 대량 주문을 미끼로 선 입금이나 대리 구매를 요구, 잠적하는 수법이다.

전남경찰청과 자치경찰위원회는 ‘노쇼 사기 주의보’를 내리고 예방 캠페인을 펼치고 있다.

대량 주문이 들어오면 반드시 해당 기관 대표 번호로 사실 여부를 확인하고, 선 입금이나 대리 구매 요청은 단호히 거절하라는 안내 문구를 강조했다.

지역 소상공인에게 노쇼는 단순한 약속 불이행이 아니라 생계에 직결되는 문제로, 재료비와 인건비 손실은 물론, 손님과의 신뢰가 무너져 원만한 관계 역시 유지가 어렵다.

노쇼 사기를 막기 위해선 업주뿐 아니라 우리 모두의 인식이 바뀌어야 한다. 예약은 작은 약속이지만, 그 약속을 지키는 문화가 자리 잡을 때 지역 상권과 사회의 신뢰도 함께 지켜질 것이다.

**A No-show Is More Than a Broken Promise—It’s an Economic Blow**

Recently, several cases of “no-show scams” have occurred across Jeollanam-do, in which fraudsters impersonate public institutions, military units, or entertainment agencies.

According to Mokpo MBC, more than 130 such cases have been reported in the province this year alone. These scams go beyond simple reservation cancellations—they involve placing large orders as bait, demanding advance payments or proxy purchases, and then disappearing.

The Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency and the Autonomous Police Commission have issued a “no-show scam alert” and launched a prevention campaign.

Authorities are urging business owners to verify large orders by calling the official representative number of the institution in question and to firmly reject any requests for advance payment or proxy purchases.

For local small business owners, a no-show is not merely a failure to keep an appointment—it directly threatens their livelihood. They suffer losses in material and labor costs, and the breach of trust makes it difficult to maintain good relationships with customers.

To prevent no-show scams, awareness must change not only among business owners but also among all of us. A reservation may seem like a small promise, but when keeping such promises becomes a shared social norm, both local economies and social trust will be safeguarded.
