진도군이 농어촌 의료·복지 인력의 주거 안정과 지역 정착을 지원하기 위한 ‘농어촌 간호복지인력 기숙사 건립사업’의 첫 삽을 떴다.
군은 지난 10월 14일 오후 2시, 김희수 진도군수를 비롯해 박금례 진도군의회 의장, 군의원, 지역 기관단체장, 마을 주민, 공사 관계자 등 100여 명이 참석한 가운데 안전기원제를 갖고 사업의 성공적 추진과 무재해 시공을 기원했다.
이번 사업은 총사업비 67억 원(도비 24억, 군비 20억, 지방소멸대응기금 23억 원)이 투입되며, 지상 4층 규모, 총 30실의 기숙사를 조성한다.
특히 청년 간호·복지 종사자들의 다양한 수요를 반영해 세대별 32㎡ 원룸형 숙소로 구성하고, 지역 시세보다 저렴한 임대료로 공급해 주거비 부담을 크게 줄일 계획이다.
김희수 진도군수는 “이번 기숙사 건립은 전남에서 두 번째로 추진되는 농어촌 간호복지 인력 기숙사 사업으로, 열악한 농어촌의 정주 여건을 개선하고 안정적인 의료 인력 확보에 큰 도움이 될 것”이라며, “청년들이 마음껏 꿈을 펼치고 미래를 설계하는 ‘희망의 보배섬 진도’를 만들어 가겠다.”고 밝혔다.
한편, 진도군은 이날 안전기원제를 시작으로 본격적인 공사에 착수했으며, 오는 2026년 하반기 준공을 목표로 하고 있다.

Jindo County Breaks Ground on Rural Nursing and Welfare Workforce Dormitory
– Expected to Improve Living Conditions for Medical Personnel and Bridge Healthcare Gaps in Rural Areas –
Jindo County has broken ground on the construction of a “Rural Nursing and Welfare Workforce Dormitory” to provide stable housing and encourage local settlement for healthcare and welfare professionals working in rural communities.
On October 14 at 2 p.m., the county held a safety prayer ceremony to mark the start of construction, attended by Jindo County Mayor Kim Hee-soo, Jindo County Council Chair Park Geum-rye, council members, local organization leaders, village residents, and construction officials — about 100 participants in total. The event wished for the project’s successful completion and accident-free construction.
The project will cost a total of 6.7 billion KRW (including 2.4 billion from the provincial government, 2.0 billion from the county, and 2.3 billion from the Local Extinction Response Fund) and will construct a four-story dormitory with 30 units.
Each unit will be a 32㎡ studio-type room, designed to meet the diverse needs of young nursing and welfare workers. The dormitory will be leased at rates lower than local market prices, significantly reducing the residents’ housing costs.
Mayor Kim Hee-soo stated, “This dormitory project, the second of its kind in Jeollanam-do, will greatly improve living conditions in rural areas and help secure stable healthcare personnel,” adding, “We will continue building ‘Hopeful Treasure Island, Jindo,’ where young people can freely pursue their dreams and plan their futures.”
Meanwhile, Jindo County officially began full-scale construction following the safety prayer ceremony and aims to complete the project by the second half of 2026.
