완도군이 예술과 회복을 주제로 한 복합 문화 공간 ‘마음 치유 센터’ 건립 사업을 추진하고 있다.
‘마음 치유 센터’는 지방소멸대응기금 국비 27억 원과 대우재단 재원 13억 3천만 원 등 총 40억 3천만 원을 투입해, 노화읍 노화로 831번길 19에 위치한 대우재단 소유 (구)완도대우병원 부지 내 유휴 시설을 리모델링하는 사업이다.
지난 6월 착공한 센터는 내년 상반기 개관을 목표로 공사가 순조롭게 진행 중이다.
완공 후에는 전시관, 작업 공방실, 마음 치유 정원 등이 들어서며, 단순한 전시 공간을 넘어 모든 세대가 함께 참여하고 소통할 수 있는 예술 치유 프로그램이 운영될 예정이다.
특히, 현재 운영 중인 건강돌봄센터와 연계해 주민의 신체·정신 건강을 종합적으로 관리하고, 국토교통부 공모 사업으로 선정된 ‘치유의 예술 섬’ 프로젝트와도 연동해 노화·보길·소안 등 완도 서남권을 아우르는 치유 관광지로 발전시킬 계획이다.
군 관계자는 “마음 치유 센터는 지역민과 관광객이 함께 예술과 치유를 경험하는 문화·관광의 거점 공간이 될 것으로 기대한다.”고 밝혔다.

Wando County to Invest 4 Billion KRW in “Mind Healing Center”
Art therapy complex featuring exhibition halls and healing gardens set to open in the first half of next year
Wando County is currently promoting the construction of the “Mind Healing Center,” a cultural complex that combines art and recovery.
The project will utilize a total investment of 4.03 billion KRW, including 2.7 billion KRW in national funds from the Local Extinction Response Fund and 1.33 billion KRW from the Daewoo Foundation. The project involves remodeling an idle facility located on the site of the former Wando Daewoo Hospital (19, Nohwa-ro 831beon-gil, Nohwa-eup), which is owned by the Daewoo Foundation.
Construction began in June this year and is scheduled for completion and opening in the first half of next year. The center will include exhibition halls, art studios, and a healing garden, offering not only display spaces but also participatory art therapy programs designed to promote communication and engagement across all generations.
In particular, the center will be linked with the currently operating Community Health Care Center to comprehensively support both physical and mental well-being. It will also be connected to the “Healing Art Island” project, a national initiative selected by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, with the goal of developing Nohwa, Bogil, and Soan islands into a healing tourism cluster in southwestern Wando.
A county official stated, “The Mind Healing Center is expected to become a cultural and tourism hub where both residents and visitors can experience art and healing together.”
