해남군이 잠자는 사이, 진도와 완도가 혈안이 되어 호남~제주 철도 유치 경쟁에 뛰어들고 있다.
그러나 해남은 아직도 손 놓고 있다. 이대로라면, 지역의 미래를 스스로 포기하는 꼴이 된다.
철도는 단순한 교통망이 아니다.
경제·관광·물류를 살리는 ‘지역 생존권’이다.
해남이 경유에서 배제된다면, 앞으로 수십 년간 지역 발전의 기회를 완전히 잃게 된다.
지금 당장 국회의원, 도의원, 군수, 군의원, 재경 향우회 등 모든 세력이 하나로 뭉쳐야 한다.
세미나를 열고, 정책 자료를 준비하고, 해남 경유의 당위와 미래 비전을 공개적으로 설득해야 한다.
손 놓고 구경만 한다면, 경쟁 지역이 치밀하게 움직이는 동안 해남은 뒤로 밀릴 수밖에 없다.
정부의 최종안이 나오기 전, 해남의 정치·행정 지도자들은 즉각 행동하라.
철도는 선택이 아니라 필수다.
해남 경유권을 지켜내지 못하면, 주민과 지역은 그 대가를 톡톡히 치르게 될 것이다.
해남은 결코 뒤로 물러설 수 없다.
경유권 확보, 지금이 바로 행동할 시간이다.
Editorial: Protect Haenam’s Route on the Honam–Jeju Railway
While Haenam County remains dormant, Jindo and Wando are frantically vying to host the Honam–Jeju railway.
Yet Haenam is still doing nothing. At this rate, the region is effectively surrendering its own future.
A railway is not merely a means of transportation.
It is a lifeline that drives the local economy, tourism, and logistics.
If Haenam is excluded from the route, it will lose decades of development opportunities.
Now is the time for all forces—members of parliament, provincial councilors, the mayor, county councilors, and the Haenam diaspora—to unite as one.
They must organize seminars, prepare policy briefs, and publicly advocate the necessity and future vision of routing the railway through Haenam.
If Haenam continues to sit idle, while competing regions move strategically, it will inevitably fall behind.
Before the government finalizes its plan, Haenam’s political and administrative leaders must act immediately.
The railway is not optional—it is essential.
Failing to secure Haenam’s route will make residents and the region pay a heavy price.
Haenam cannot afford to step back.
Securing the route is urgent—now is the time for action.
