완도군(군수 신우철)과 광주여성단체협의회(회장 이영숙)가 손을 맞잡고, 회원들이 직접 체험하는 해양치유 프로그램을 통해 건강과 삶의 활력을 되찾는 상생 협력에 나섰다.
지난 8월 21일 완도군청에서 열린 협약식에는 신우철 군수와 이영숙 회장을 비롯해 회원들이 참석했다. 이날 회원들은 협약식 후 완도해양치유센터를 둘러보며 프로그램을 직접 체험하는 시간을 가졌다.
광주에서 온 한 회원은 “갯벌 위를 맨발로 걷는 해양치유 걷기 프로그램에 참여했는데, 발끝에서부터 피로가 풀리고 마음이 가벼워졌다”며 “일상에서 받던 스트레스를 내려놓을 수 있어 감동적이었다.”고 소감을 전했다.
또 다른 회원은 “해조류를 활용한 테라피를 처음 경험했는데, 피부가 맑아지는 것은 물론, 바다향 속에서 심신이 편안해졌다”며 만족감을 드러냈다.
신우철 군수는 “여성단체 회원들이 체험을 통해 느낀 치유와 힐링의 경험이 곧 완도 해양치유산업의 가치”라며 “앞으로도 회원들의 건강한 삶을 위해 차별화된 프로그램을 개발하고 지원을 아끼지 않겠다.”고 말했다.
이영숙 회장은 “회원들이 완도의 청정한 바다에서 특별한 치유를 경험한 것만으로도 큰 의미가 있다”며 “앞으로도 해양치유 프로그램이 회원 복지 향상과 완도군 해양치유산업 발전에 밑거름이 되도록 협력하겠다.”고 밝혔다.
완도해양치유센터는 해풍과 해양에어로졸, 해조류, 갯벌·모래·맥반석 등 해양 자원을 활용해 몸과 마음을 치유하는 16개 테라피 프로그램을 운영하고 있다.
지난해에는 한국관광공사 주관 *‘우수 웰니스 관광지’*에 선정되며 전국적인 주목을 받고 있다.

“Mind and Body Restored by the Sea of Wando”
― Wando County and Gwangju Women’s Association Sign Agreement to Promote Marine Healing Industry ―
Wando County (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) and the Gwangju Women’s Association (Chairperson Lee Young-sook) have joined hands to foster mutual cooperation, enabling members to regain health and vitality through direct participation in marine healing programs.
The signing ceremony was held on August 21 at Wando County Office, with Governor Shin Woo-cheol, Chairperson Lee Young-sook, and members of the association in attendance. Following the ceremony, members visited the Wando Marine Healing Center and experienced its programs firsthand.
A member from Gwangju shared her impression: “Walking barefoot along the tidal flats in the marine healing program eased the fatigue from my feet upward, leaving me feeling light and refreshed. It was moving to release the stress of daily life.”
Another participant commented, “It was my first time experiencing seaweed-based therapy. Not only did my skin feel clearer, but I also found peace of mind while surrounded by the scent of the sea.”
Governor Shin Woo-cheol stated, “The healing and relaxation experienced by the association’s members represent the very value of Wando’s marine healing industry. We will continue to develop unique programs and provide full support for the health and well-being of our visitors.”
Chairperson Lee Young-sook added, “It is deeply meaningful for our members to experience such special healing in Wando’s pristine marine environment. We will actively cooperate to ensure marine healing programs contribute both to member welfare and the growth of Wando’s marine healing industry.”
The Wando Marine Healing Center operates 16 therapeutic programs that utilize clean marine resources such as sea breezes, marine aerosols, seawater, seaweed, tidal flats, sand, and maifan stones.
Last year, the center was selected by the Korea Tourism Organization as an “Outstanding Wellness Tourism Destination” and continues to gain recognition nationwide as a premier marine healing facility.
